Winslow Cottage was a beautifully renovated little house and very clean and comfortable. We were able to park in the long stay carpark 2 minutes walk away then walk to everything we wanted, including restaurants, pubs, a small supermarket and buses to Mousehole and to Lands End. Penzance was at most a twenty minute walk along the promenade, but also an option by bus. We had views of the harbour and St Michaelâs Mount from the upstairs windows (or a short walk away). Mark and Fiona were really fast at answering questions, gave great advice on things to do and places to eat, and even left us a welcome hamper with wine and biscuits, as well as tea, coffee and milk. Our only regret was that we could only stay two nights! The bedroom and bathroom are up a narrow flight of stairs but itâs an easy climb for most people.
We loved our stay. The cottage was bright and cozy. Lots of lovely touches. Importantly a great bed and shower and we loved the telescope to watch the fishing boats coming and going. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
Lovely little cottage, exactly as described and with everything you could need. Very grateful for the logs, which made for cosy evenings. The car parking was a little challenging, but we were made aware this could be the case, but luckily found spaces nearby. Thank you Mark and Fiona for looking after us so well!
Great location without being in an overly "touristy" town, this lovely little cottage was a great home away from home. Beautiful views across the bay towards St. Michaels Mount too.
We loved everything about Winslow Cottage. Itâs beautifully set out with everything you could possibly need, surrounded by fantastic restaurants and galleries⊠weâve never eaten so well!!
Very lovingly furnished cottage with very nice hosts. The location is a great starting point for trips around south/west Cornwall. the cottage was very clean and nothing was missing. thanks to Mark and Fiona!
Please be aware the stairs are very steep and narrow. I'm a gym go'er and found these tricky. The bed is comfy but short (hubs is 5'10 and had to lay at an angle. The 'sofa' isn't comfy, it's hard and upright. Parking: We had to park a ten min walk away in sandy cove car park which is pay as you go or ÂŁ20 for the weekend by calling - it's safe.
Loved this cute cottage and its' location. Walking distance to Penzance and Mousehole if you need to. Able to take ferry to Scilly Isles. Convenient grocery shop for supplies also nearby pub and bakeries. The owners' attention to detail in the interior design and household appliances and supplies was amazing and was much welcomed and appreciated.
View from upper floor window is spectacular.
Definitely a romantic hideaway (not suitable for very young kids ie steep stair case). No parking at the cottage but a small public carpark very very close - had no problem at finding a spot during our weeks stay.
Had an amazing time.
Overall, a 5 star experience.
A very sweet, bijou & well presented cottage, a short walk from Newlynâs amenities & excellent eateries and, within walking distance of Mousehole.
The cottage has a wood-burning stove, supplied with a generous basket of logs, though we topped up with our own supply - it heated the place quickly and made it very cosy.
The newly refurbished shower was excellent, with a plentiful supply of hot water, with good pressure.
Whilst there was very restricted access to the bed (not helped by the extra wide foot board), the bedroom had a roomy dressing area with plenty of space for hanging clothes and storing bags out of the way. The bed was very comfortable and such a pleasure to sleep on Egyptian cotton bedding.
The kitchen had everything needed to self-cater, though we were somewhat bemused by the draining board that drained water straight onto the floor!
Communication from the hosts was excellent.
A very enjoyable stay!
Winslow Cottage is a beautiful and very cozy cottage. We loved every minute here. The house is lovely decorated. The location is also excellent as you are close enough to walk to restaurants, beaches, and sights by foot, yet it is located in a quiet, secure neighborhood with great sea views. Overall: Perfect!
Winslow Cottage was love at first sight! It's a wonderful place to spend at least one week in Newlyn and Cornwall's West Coast. The Cottage was unbelievable cosy, comfortable and tastefully furnished. To see St Michael's Mount and Mounts Bay every day was a great plesure for us. We had plenty of walks, more than once especially on Penzance Promenade and parts of the South West Coast Path. Using the Go Corwall App is highly recommended. E.g. we went to St Michael's Mount, Porthcurno, Mousehole and St Ives by Bus. That's very relaxing :-), not going by car during the week...
Enjoyed our stay very much. It was fabulous! We would come back to Winslow Cottage at any time.
Unkompliziertes einchecken, sehr nette Vermieter, schöne Umgebung, sauberes, gemĂŒtliches Cottage. Alles vorhanden was man braucht. Jederzeit gerne wieder
Exactly like the photos and even cozier in reality. Communication with the hosts was very good. Great view from upper windows, overlooking the bay with St. Michaels Mount in the distance. Bus stop literally around the corner.
Can recommend.
We loved the fact that Newlyn was less touristy and an easy walk to Mousehole which is very pretty and unspoilt. Two local pubs we both great. The cottage was perfect for our needs but donât expect the bed area to be spacious.
Me an my partner wanted to escape the bussle of London and enjoy stunning views and great food especially with him being a chef.
We couldn't of picked a more perfect location in Winslow Cottage and Newlyn. I have got to say Winslow Cottage is even better in real life the photo's dont do it justice, it is clean, refreshingly bright and tastefully decorated and the views especially in the morning are just WOW.
It is a short stroll into the harbour which has some fabulous local seafood restaurants including, Mackeral Sky, Argoe and The Tolcarne Inn.
Tourism definitely hasnt hit Newlyn like other areas such as St Ives, which makes it all that bit better for a nice relaxing break.
If you fancy a stroll there are fantastic local villages such as Mousehole which you can easily walk or ride too an has has stunning coastal paths finishing up at a quaint little sea-side town with lovely places to eat and the other way is St Michaels Mount which is absolutely stunning.
All in all, I would absolutely recommend my only regret is not booking longer.
Our stay at Winslow Cottage was everything we hoped for. We wanted a quiet place to relax away from reality. The cottage was tastefully decorated and we loved the wood burner in the lounge. The only negative is we only had 3 days there. We would rent the cottage again in the future.
I stayed at Winslow Cottage as a solo guest, wanting some peace and quiet, but wanting the option of access to Newlyn centre (5 minutes walk) when I fancied it and easy availability to Penzance and Mousehole as well (bus stop to both literally one minute from front door).
My stay has been perfect, with Mark and Fiona being welcoming but unobtrusive, checking I was safely in, then leaving me in peace as they knew I was wanting a quiet break, but answering quickly when I ask for a cafe recommendation.
I've had plenty of walks, sea gazing out at the harbour (one minute walk), watching the boats from upstairs, there's a telescope if that's your thing, and just sitting in cafes with the paper, before coming back to my lovely 2 storey home from home.
Beautifully decorated with real care for style and comfort - there's loads of room and it feels really spacious as the cottage is not overstuffed with knickknacks, just tastefully observed. The kitchen has everything a cook could wish for (I'm not one, but I appreciate it!) and the woodburning stove in the sitting room was a real treat in October.
As for the shower, huge, blissful, and you will struggle not to have three a day just so you can use it more!
In a word - stay!
Beautiful and very well considered property.
Could not have asked for more - even had a terrestrial telescope for looking across the bay. The absolute BEST sunrises and peace for the mind and body.
