My family and I thoroughly enjoyed an early November Weekend at the Black Dog Lodge. The host was in touch several days before our trip and provided us with all the information we would need. She was extremely quick to respond whenever we had a question and never left us hanging.
The house is situated up a picturesque and windy dirt road a couple of minutes from the Calvin Coolidge village (which is pretty interesting to check out). Upon entering the home, the pictures don’t do it justice. The homeowners did a fantastic job in decorating this home leaving it a warm and cozy feel. Although the temperatures were above average for our early November visit, they did drop in the evening which afforded us the opportunity to utilize the wood stove. There was an abundance of wood provided for the stove as well as the two outdoor fire pits. The wood stove really warmed up the home. The house was very clean and all the bedrooms were made up nicely. There were plenty of linens and towels provided and a washer and dryer was located on the first floor for use. There is also two refrigerators (one on each level) which provided plenty of room to keep food and beverages cold. The main floor had floor to ceiling windows which provides a very nice view of the mountain. The kitchen has ample space to cook and eat, and there is a TV room located right off the kitchen that provides a very relaxing and cozy feel. Off the kitchen is a second story deck that over looks the front yard and the roadway in—we spent a ton of time out here. Off the kitchen, a ladder leads upstairs to the loft which the kids absolutely loved. There was a TV up there as well as 4 beds (1 Queen & 3 Twins). There is also windows looking out to the wooded property. The house was in perfect proximity to Ludlow and Killington if you want shops or restaurants and obviously skiing at Killington, Pico or Okemo. All in all, we didn’t have any complaints and would definitely recommend this home to our friends, or even rent again ourselves.
