I rated our overall stay as okay mostly due to the lack of accuracy in the listing and the fact that Evolve can’t answer any questions you may have about the property. First off, I want to point out that the views are STUNNING! Postcard worthy sunsets, tons of wildlife, peaceful mountain air. This is a good place to reset but there are a few things I wish I had known:
- The cabin is smaller than what I expected. When we drove up, I was surprised when I saw it from the outside. I was also disappointed at how close it is to the big cabin that also has vacationers staying at. Also note, there are 2 dogs living there but they are friendly and can keep to themselves. Luckily my dogs got along with them and the black & white one is so so sweet that I wanted to take her home.
- The cabin has nice furnishings with a cozy fireplace and wood available. The view out of every window is spectacular but there are no blinds or full window curtains. I suggest that the windows have full coverings since the ranch-hands are around the cabin. The bathroom is quite large with some modernized touches which is nice but the shower needs a good scrub and possibly something to help the standing water drain properly. Some of the surfaces need a dusting.
- There is also a ton of space that could be utilized better - ie there isn’t enough room for your groceries or cold weather gear or dog food/stuff. Add some empty shelves in the corners and hooks to hang towels and coats (ie hooks in bathroom on that big wall).
- Some basics were missing that could easily be added to enhance your stay and make it feel less like you’re roughing it: rugs inside both doors, more towels (2 in the kitchen is not enough if you’re cooking then washing your own dishes), a bath rug, a can opener, a teapot, a cover for the hot plate / stove, window coverings, a larger trash bin, maybe some fold-up chairs in case you want to sit at the table. The guide book for the property is actually for the big cabin so maybe cross out the parts that don’t apply like laundry capability.
Despite my long notes, we enjoyed our stay. Cody, Powell and Greybull are close enough to make a quick run to pickup food or forgotten essentials. We love this location and this side of the Beartooths.
