Great place with beautiful views

I would stay here again. The views are beautiful and the property grounds are very well kept. The only thing I wish were different is the pool was ice cold and there was no lunch or drink service at the resort. Looks like they at one point had a swim up bar? The lounge/restaurant on site was great for dinner and had live music every night we were there.

Love Hanalei Bay Resort! This unit was especially great due to the location. This is the best location we have stayed in so far. This is my third trip to HBR and first with my two children (9 and 6). We were very close to the pool, the tennis courts, and the beautiful outside area with the big lawn that is great for watching sunsets. The unit was great. My kids loved it. The beds were very comfortable. It had two outside balconies and the view was beautiful. We loved our stay and will be back to this unit, specifically!

First time to Hawaii, loved it.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The location is perfect for the pool, the beach, the parking. The management company is very responsive. Our niece had to stay one night unexpectedly. She flew in and could not get to her parent's rental due to bridge closure from high rains. Management company provided extra sheets and towels very promptly. I loved the bathroom amenities provided. The view was unsurpassed. The beach is great for snorkeling. The rental agreement had full disclosure of resort fees and parking fees, so we knew in advance. It did get noisy toward the end of our stay. But it was in the middle of Christmas week and probably to be expected.

Spectacular views, but no AC in master bedroom

Sorry to start this off on a negative tone. Online listing needs to be updated. It states AC throughout in one spot and Full AC in another. This is not accurate. The master bedroom did not have any AC and instead had two fans in the closet. It was easily 10 degrees warmer in that room and we ended up moving our kids into that room and sleeping in the guest room. Please update your info as I specifically searched for units with AC and was very disappointed by the inaccuracy. Beyond that the decor, furniture and rugs need updating. Some of the fabric on the chairs was ripped and falling off and the rugs were old and stained. We have stayed in Kauai a couple of times at different places and the views here were incredible. Great to wake up in the morning and drink coffee on the balcony while the occasional rainbows showed up in the bay. If not for the negative comments above on the AC and furniture this would have been an excellent experience.

Beautiful but could have been so much more

This property is georgous. Accommodations stylish and comfortable. We ran into maintenance issues which the owner tried hard to correct but island time made it difficult. Half the unit had no AC for the entire week which made the whole unit "stuffy" as one unit tried to do the work of two. Also the washing machine didn't work (there is share washers and dryers not too far away). Issues with Hanlei Bay Resort were not conveyed to us ahead of time. Their restaurant is still not finished, their upstairs main bar closed, their pool bar open just 3 days out of the 7 we were here. All in all, the owner and unit are quite amazing and worth the trip. I am sure the owner will correct all maintenance issues. The resort really needs to get its act together before thinking of itself as a top flight destination.

Wonderful location and view

This location is a nice are in Princeville but the golf course and beach. This place is on a resort so checking in was done like hotel. The condo is much closer to things like the pools and front desk with bar then I thought so it was easy to walk and bring things to the pool. The pool is open until 10p so it was fun to swim at night. You can call to get a golf cart to bring you to your car or down to the beach which is nice. The beach is quite a haul especially if you have things to bring to the beach. And the walk is steep so cart would be best. The beach is in front of another hotel called Princeville Resort at the end of Haneli Bay. Nice long sandy beach and good for snorkeling right of the beach. The place has great beach gear like many chairs, pull cooler with another smaller one, umbrella and boogie boards. Bedrooms have good space and comfy beds. But the view off the balcony is the best part. You get to see the mountains with daily rainbows all day. Only thing I would suggest is bring ear plugs as their is tons of chicken and roosters on the property (they are all over the island) and they start crowing at about 530am. They are pretty but loud!!

Perfect family vacation

We stayed here for a magical family vacation over Christmas week. After spending the previous ten days in hotels on other islands, we were happy to arrive at the condo and have a kitchen to utilize. We stocked up on groceries at the Costco in Lihue and the Foodland nearby and proceeded to cook each meal ourselves. The condo appliances are top of the line and newer. The resort also has a very nice community grilling area with three separate propane grills. The condo is situated in an ideal location within the resort, it's just steps away from the main pool and very close to the beach path. The beach is about a 10 minute walk down the bluff, the resort offers golf cart service to/from it, but my family enjoyed the hike. We were a little disappointed with the beach, the water is quite rocky and the sand is pretty course. But there are plenty of great options an easy drive away (Anini Beach and Ha'ena Beach are two we really enjoyed). A highlight of the trip for us was the hot tub. It's a great hot, I can't remember a resort or hotel hot tub that I have enjoyed more. My family really liked swimming after dark, under the stars. The pool has a very cool swim up bar which we enjoyed. The property management staff is very welcoming and helpful. The grounds are well maintained and beautiful. All in all, this is a great condo and I hope to bring my family back to stay here again in the future.

Simply amazing.

We love Hanalei Bay Resort. This unit is perfectly situated. Close to the pool, the tennis courts and the path to the beach. There is a closet full of boogie boards, coolers, beach chairs, etc. The unit is nicely decorated and the kitchen is well stocked. The view of Bali Hai from the living room and both bedrooms can’t be beat! The owner was easy to communicate with. It is too bad “they” (not sure who?) can’t figure out how to get the restaurant open. Ten years is a long time..... We had several wonderful dinners at the Dolphin (ate there twice) and Postcard Cafe. Love the close proximity to Makai golf course & Foodland grocery store.

Very nice condo with beautiful views of Hanalei Bay and the mountains behind. Kitchen was well stocked, washing machine and dryer worked well. Air conditioning was appreciated! Fabulous Kauai Stay

Hanalei Bay Resort is located in the most beautiful lush setting. Our beautiful two bedroom condo was near the main pool, restaurant and parking. Morning coffee overlooking the mountain and water view was magical. We enjoyed hiking to Queen's Bath, snorkeling at Anina Beach, and dining out in Hanalei. The kitchen was fully stocked which we enjoyed as we like to cook. The only disappointment was a broken dishwasher (which we were told about in advance) and the presence of some roaches in the kitchen and bath.

We were a group of four adults celebrating a special milestone. HBR was a great choice for us - especially loved the proximity to Hanalei and the fabulous pool onsite. We couldn’t have asked for a better view from the unit. Great amenities; especially loved the in unit washer and dryer which came in handy after some long hikes. Great communication with the owner. Lovely property with one of the best views in the world.

I have always wanted to stay in Princeville and finally on my 10th visit to Kauai this was it. The location of the resort could not have been better and the location of this property was ideal within the resort itself. I was so happy that it had air conditioning after finding out that some rentals on the island do not. The kitchen was great as well as the furniture and TVs. The only constructive advice I could give was that I felt they really need to update the mattresses. Thank you again for sharing this beautiful space in paradise.

A slice of paradise!

We recently stayed in this beautiful combo unit (one bedroom connected to a studio) at the Hanalei Bay Resort for five nights and loved it! Combined, we had two bedrooms (super comfy king in one, super comfy king plus pull-out twin sofa in the other), each with its own bathroom, plus a large kitchen/dining/living room area, and a long lanai that stretched along both units, with a gorgeous view of the mountains as well as a portion of Hanalei Bay to the right. The condo was spacious, super clean, very comfortable, and updated (with neutral furnishings and bold, Asian-inspired artwork). There are two quiet AC units if you need them, two separate entrances, and thoughtful amenities, like shampoo, conditioner, soap, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, plastic garbage bags, and paper towels to get you started. Stop at the grocery store in Hanalei to pick up food, water, etc. The large closet near the living room is stocked with beach chairs, coolers, yoga mats, and an umbrella. The kitchen has everything you need and is both beautiful and functional. The washer/dryer combo in the kitchen was also a dream to have. My teens loved the tiny efficiency kitchen in their studio unit. The bedding and towels are fresh and soft, and the pool towels you get from the front desk are thick and large. The owner, Chuck, was very sweet and extremely responsive to our questions. He even called after we left to say that we had forgotten our camera battery charger and offered to mail it back to us. The resort itself is beautiful - stunning views everywhere you look - and very well maintained. The pool is gorgeous (waterfalls galore) and the swim-up bar is fun, and now serves snacks as well as more filling things like pizza. The walk down to the beach is a bit far but doable and you can call the front desk for a ride back up on a golf cart (very steep). There are multiple tennis courts as well, and always available parking. The resort has a simple, open-air pub-style restaurant (Happy Talk) with some great music and friendly service, though we didn't love the food. Go for the drinks! The fancier restaurant, Bali Hai, was damaged a few months ago, and is in the process of being renovated. The St. Regis Princeville is next door. Go to the Makana Terrace for breathtaking, open-air views of the ocean and sunset for a special dinner. Also - you must go to Bar Acuda - excellent tapas restaurant. All in all, we highly recommend!
