Great hotel in a great district
The building seems very small when you see it the first time, but then you enter you dive into a beautiful world of a lovely decorated big house down the hill and friendly people. I felt save and had a wonderful time there. I want to mention the breakfast! It was so great: plenty of fresh fruit, homemade food, lovely staff members... Perfect!

Schönes kleines Hotel im Künstlerviertel
Wir waren für 6 Nächte dort. Das Hotel liegt sehr unscheinbar im Künstlerviertel Santa Teresa. Wir haben uns dort sehr wohl und sehr sicher gefühlt. Wir hatten ein Zimmer im oberen Teil des Hotels in der höheren Preisklasse. Sicherheit wird sehr groß geschrieben. Das Hotel ist nur online und gegen angabe der echten Personalien buchbar. Anfragen von der Straße werden abgewiesen.

Schöne Oase in perfekter Lage
Es wirkt von aussen bestenfalls unauffällig - je weiter man die Treppen der in den Hang gebauten Posada hinabsteigt, umso hübscher wird es. Guter Service, nette, lockeres Personal und auch nette Gäste aus aller Welt. Prima Frühstück - sehr entspannte Atmosphäre. Zimmer sind sauber geschrubbt, mückenbereinigt und haben alles, was man braucht.

A little treasure in Rio.
The Quinta Azul hotel is a little treasure in Santa Tereza in Rio de Janeiro. The architecture is extra-ordinary over 4 floors. It has a lovely terrace where u get warmly welcomed, the staff is very nice and helpful. They gladly call you a taxi or help u with ur daily adventures. Often u get visited by cute little monkeys while the breakfast buffet which has a big variety, also fresh fruits and juices, is served in the morning. The rooms are clean and comfortable, you get new towels everyday. It has a tiny pool where u can refresh ur feet but which also attracts mosquitos. Also the hotel is located in a street with many lovely tiny restaurants where u can eat from fish over meat and also local food. For us as individual vacationers and for people who want to experience the brazilian way of life this hotel is very recommendable. To go to the city you can walk downhill, when u come back to the hotel the huge hills are a bit troublesome and exhausting. But u can also use a bus or a taxi.

Com mais capricho na limpeza, manutenção e café da manhã seria uma estadia ótima. O quarto tinha muitas teias de aranha, o painel da banheira de hidromassagem faltava botões e o buffet de café da manhã com reposição lenta, pouca qualidade e variedade, e mal apresentado - ovos mexidos terríveis e rechauds desligados. Também não utilizam os lençóis e toalhas de qualidade superior prometidos.O check-in e check-out foram muito rápidos e com bom atendimento. O quarto e a cama eram muito confortáveis, e tudo funcionava perfeitamente bem - frigobar, banheira, chuveiro, luzes e tomadas. A localização também é muito agradável.

Bem ao lado de bares e restaurantes, quarto bem decorado e limpo. A recepção poderia ser mais simpática, o banheiro não possuia kit higiene e o café da manhã não oferecia manteiga, somente margarina.

Two minutes walk to downtown, lovely outdoor patio, good breakfast, rooftop room with outdoor hot tub was worth the extra lush and green, amazing staff.

A pousada tem muito potencial, porem durante nossa estadia pudemos notar alguns itens que poderiam ser melhorados: -ausencia de itens de toilette no quarto ( sabonete, shampoo) - ainda que a questao da falta de privacidade na hidromassagem tenha sido resolvida com cortinas, a temperatura da agua estava fria e nao conseguimos aumenta-la. Nao nos foi dada nenhuma instrucao em como opera-la e nao havia ninguem para nos ajudar. - o cafe da manha, ainda que farto e pouco explorado. Ovos podem ser feitos na hora, mas ninguem nos ofereceu ( so descobrimos pq perguntamos), suco pronto, bolo pronto. Pequenos ajustes podem tornar a pousada muito especial, ja que as instalacoes sao lindas e a posicao e muito privilegiada

Oasis in Santa Teresa
Quinta Azul is a great alternative to the big hotels in Copacabana and Ipanema. It's quaint and quiet. The staff at the pousada is really exceptional and each of them were consistently super friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Elena, who is just amazing. My only suggestion is that the water in the showers needs to be warmer.

Santa Santa Teresa
La fachada del hotel es muy austera. Cuando entramos nos sorprendió gratamente lo linda y cálida que era la posada, construida en el morro, hacia abajo. La atención fue excelente. El barrio en que está emplazado, Santa Teresa, es un barrio muy bello, de construcciones muy viejas, mansiones fastuosas de otros tiempos que hoy ofrecen la belleza de su decadencia. Hay muchos centros culturales, bares y atelieres que nos brindaron la alegría de la bohemia bahiana. Hay que tener en cuenta que Santa Teresa es un morro y para llegar al hotel hay que ascender por sus calles de empadrado o escaleras pintorescas. En la base del morro se encuentra el barrio de Lapa, con mucha vida nocturna. Nosotros nos manejamos siempre caminando o en colectivo, que es lo que nos permitió estar más cerca de la gente. Muy recomendables la posada y el barrio con sus calles.

Expedia did not live up to the contract
We are not happy with our hotel stay. We booked five premium double rooms and were given only three premium rooms and two other rooms, one of which did not even have enough room to put the suitcase on the floor. Not happy - we have been overcharged for two rooms and should be reimbursed.

Had booked for 3 nights. Access to hotel is not easy.. Its uphill and have to take cab from metro to get to the hotel. At time of check in requested if I can cancel one night - the last night - and the guy - Lewis at reception agreed. After I made alternate arrangements at a different hotel for the 3rd night, next day Lewis tells me he cannot cancel and I should pay 100% for the 3rd night. After I reminded him that only after his confirmation, I made alternate bookings he said I should pay 10% fee because expedia charged him. That night I called expedia and expedia confirmed they were not charging any fee. After 2 days when I was checking out, he was not at reception and I told the lady at reception that I have to 10% per Lewis for 3rd night because exedia was charging. She confirmed expedia was not charging and I could check out without paying anything. After 2 days of check out I see Lewis charged me 100% for the thrid night on my creditcard. A piece of advise, if you are a tourist stay in copacabana/leblon/ipanema area which is a upscale neighbourhood and feel good for tourist. Santa Teresa is a rundown neighbourhood and good to visit for 2-3 hours but dont take a hotel here.

Service slow and neighbourhood rather dodgy.
Nice breakfast and clean room. Unfortunately we had some issues with the room (shower) and our requests/instructions for a taxi were either ignored or left very late causing us some anxiety on departure. I was forced to carry our luggage up most of the stairs because the porter was elsewhere to meet the taxi (lots of stairs when you are staying in the basement). Some great views, but don't wander far from the hotel at night as it can get dangerous. Sadly, I would not recommend the hotel. Staff were not particularly friendly and better options in Copacabana or Ipanema, or even Niteroi, across Guanabara Bay.

Nice accommodation, very reasonably sized rooms, about 30 minute walk to some of the central locations. Staff very helpful and willing to provide advice on onward journey, flights, book taxis, provide directions, etc.

É mais um hostel do que um hotel, tem uma varanda charmosa, o bairro é legal, mas o quarto é simples, quase simplório. Sem telefone, chuveiro elétrico, o piso de cimento queimado estava com um sinteco que grudava no pé, um pouco de cheiro de mofo, mas deu para passar razoavelmente os dias no rio

hotel to stay in rio.
i had scary staff communications via email regarding pickup dangers and prices. there were screaming and shouting arguments every night next door, and loud dog barkings well into the night. and attempts to use fear to extort extra charges for unwanted expensive services my taxi driver to the airport given the wrong drop off instructions by the hotel and i was taken to the wrong airport even though both parties saw my ticket. i did not like it there and kept myself very low key as i felt unsafe. i will never voluntarily go to rio again or ever praise it. on the other hand the kitchen staff at the hotel were lovely and made the most beautiful food. and the room itself although below ground level with poor ventilation and no view at all was aesthetically lovely and comfortable - although i found a hyperdermic needle case discarded on the luggage wrack, so i dont think the cleaner was any good, and the hot water was too cold for a european person. there was no garden and no common room view except onto the depressed backyards and latrines of the neighbours. why did the Guardian give it such a good rating?

Hotel muy acogedor en un barrio bohemio agradable.
Hotel muy acogedor con un personal servicial y dispuesto a ayudar en todo momento, no solo en información turistica sino también para facilitar tranfer y traslados al aeropuerto. Nos invitaron a una caipirinha y la estancia fué muy agradable. El barrio muy diferente al resto de Rio, muy bohemio y alternativo pero seguro a la vez (Solo nos avisaron de tener cuidado por la noche).

Très bien !
Très belle pousada. Notre chambre était malheureusement assez mal placée comparée à d'autres (sous un escalier donc assez peu de luminosité). Néanmoins, l'accueil est très chaleureux et le personnel est tout simplement charmant ! Le quartier est très sympathique. A recommander.

Lovely Bed and Breakfast
We stayed in Rio after a cruise. We found the Bed and Breakfast a distance from downtown, that was fine with us. The staff was wonderful, Elizabeth, Erica and Jackeline. Since our flight out did not leave until midnight, they allowed us to stay until 8PM at no extra cost. The breakfast was wonderful, lots to choose from. The rooms were nice and clean but, with lots of stairs. no elevator. The deck area was great. Lots of large tropical trees. Squirel monkeys ran on the branches.A great place to relax after a tour of busy Rio.

Great pousada.
Stayed 6 nights in Dec 2014 (standard room0. Great 'guest house' style hotel. Clean rooms with good A/C, modern bath, reliable internet, breakfast included, etc. Very friendly, helpful (& English-speaking) staff. Safe/secure. This is not a big full-service hotel (nor is it trying to be), so if you're looking for room service, pool and similar high-end amenities look elsewhere. It's a smaller, quaint place with a homey feel, but had everything I needed. The common area is open (covered but outdoors, i.e., no A/C) and has a nice view of the back neighborhood. Santa Theresa is quiet (relative to Copa/Ipanema/Leblon), but has great character; bars & good restaurants around the corner. 15 min walk to subway (Gloria), R$40 & 20 min taxi to/from Ipanema (non-rush), R$20 & 10min to SDU airport, R$52 and 30min to GIG airport (non-rush). Would definitely stay here again.

Charming hostel in the most scenic part of Rio
Gorgeous patio overlooking rooftops of Santa Teresa neighborhood. Windy streets, beautiful artisan galleries, more than a few good restaurants, and the most helpful hotel staff it has ever been our good fortune to meet. A special 'shout out' to Elizabeth from reception who helped us with EVERYTHING!
