Had potential, fell short very short

This post will start with the setup that I needed a home with an elevator for a guest in my party with a disability…..landed a property through VRBO with Brindley Beach Vacations in the outerbanks that claimed handicap friendly with an elevator. 24hrs in advance they let me know the elevator was not functional, I worked with them for an additional couple of hours to find a replacement home with a functioning elevator. Get to that home on check-in day and floors were not clean, 2 of 5 toilets were not clean, one room had 100+ sand burs in the carpet, could not walk barefoot in that room. “Hot tub ready” hot tub was not usable; had not received chemical treatment in quite some time, yellowish green water not heated. To make matters worse, the elevator stopped working, with one of my guests in it, on the second trip down. He was trapped for an hour before we figured out how to get him out as we contacted the property group and they were not going to be able to come out until the next day. an ADDITIONAL day passed before we were able to get an elevator tech sent to the property to fix it, which meant we had to carry our guest up and down the stairs for half of our stay. I am thoroughly disappointed with the management of the cleanliness and elevator emergency we experienced by Brindley. I will not rent from them again, I am pleased that VRBO includes the names of the companies that are “hosting” the homes to help make this an avoidable mistake in the future.

Where not to go with children in November

House was nice. Security was lax as downstairs windows all left unlocked. Daily job to sweep up roaches. No response from property manager. Last minute strong arm tactics to change location due to oven not working. Although we were very disappointed that we had no oven for Thanksgiving dinner ....seems we were the only ones. Refund received and accepted. Upstairs deck has some loose and weak rails. Having small children that should be checked before clients arrival. I would be sharing my enjoyment of this property should your company shared .. what is available on your stay . For little ones nothing . Everything being seasonal and closed would have been appreciated. Thank you for this opportunity to vent. If you have a good marketing person this will never be seen . gsReed

A week in Waves

We had a great week at End of the Rainbow. The location is wonderful right on the beach. I have been to the outer banks many times but had never stayed this far south. We absolutely loved it. The house is just as pictured. My only complaint, the outdoor space, lower level deck area, was not cleaned up when we arrived. The house however was very clean. We will definitely return.

The Perfect Vacation Home!

This house was perfect for our family's recent trip to the OBX! The house was clean, and we loved the new kitchen! The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to prepare meals. The bedrooms are all so comfortable and it's wonderful each bedroom has it's own bathroom. Unfortunately it rained most of the week we were there, but the views of the ocean during the storms was breathtaking! It was a bit chilly to use the pool, but the hot tub was a favorite throughout the week. Dennis was a pleasure to work with, as we had to change the dates due to the bridge being closed. We would absolutely rent this home again, and we look forward to returning to this home in the future!

Dune Overwash Occurs Regularly in this Area

We learned the definition of 'overwash' according to NCDOT the hard way as high-tide, full moon and storm off the coast combined to wash dunes over the road and closed the road for 3 days while we were in town (up north) on the opposite side of the closure. We were unable to stay at the property or get to our belongings. We had to buy new clothes, toiletries and eat out for every meal after we had fully stocked the house with groceries in order to wait for the road to open and retrieve our belongings. We had difficulty securing hotels each night. The owner requires trip cancellation protection only, and then advises to purchase trip interruption protection. Sadly, the trip interruption protection is twice the cost of the cancellation and is an additional policy. If you as a tourist do not understand the regularity of overwash closure in this area, you would never know that you should be required to purchase the trip cancellation insurance. (You would never know the danger of leaving the rental home in overcast weather to go shopping or putt-putt either unless I post this.) We purchased the trip cancellation, but this policy expires at check-in. Unfortunately, trip interruption doesn't cover expenses when you can't leave and must stay in hotels to be near your stuff. Please note, the combination of storm, high-tide (daily) and full moon (monthly) is not uncommon and can happen regularly in this area. Less important note worth mentioning is the 'heated' pool is solar heated, so if no sun, then no warmth. The one day of sun did not warm the water enough to swim that day either. We went to the beach for a week and our kids did not swim except in the indoor hotel pools. We weren't sure if the junk on the side of the road all through Rodanthe/Waves/Avon was from the hurricane, but there was a lot of scrap metal, washers, refrigs, hot water heaters piled up and looked as if they had been there a while by the rust. Stay at the southern portion of the outer banks at your own risk. NCDOT is building a 'jug-handle' bridge in Rodanthe because of the overwach problem; however, it is not even a 1/10th long enough as they will continue to have this problem unless a bridge connects Oregon Inlet to Rodanthe.

The house was everything as advertised. Check in/out was simple, elevator was helpful & the instruction/guide book provided many answers to basic questions. The morning sunrise view from the top deck was outstanding while enjoying my coffee. Even better was the moon rise late at night over the Atlantic (never seen that before). The walk to the beach was close and the beach was beautiful. Many in our group were out there everyday. All of the rooms were nice size including the kitchen/dining/living. Plenty of outside furniture around the pool & top deck. We had such a fun time with our friends listening to music, playing games and experiencing the OBX. Hope to come back again. I can’t say enough how nice this house is, with the sounds of waves at your doorstep and gorgeous views.

retirement fun

After years of working this is definitely the place to chill with your friends and family. Location is excellent and the owner was responsive to our requests. We had one minor problem with a light switch, made a call, which was answered immediately, and within a half hour a person appeared, who fixed it. Pool, hot tub, fusbol, and all the other amenities just added to a great time. Place is not only convenient but is demonstrative of someone who cares about it. Thanks from all of us who stayed here.

Our stay at the end of the rainbow was perfect! House was amazing; ocean was amazing and weather was amazing as well! The only improvement that could be made is a wooden walkway across the dunes because it was a challenge with very small children and my sister who is handicapped. We knew that in advance though so no complaints whatsoever!

Great Beach House

Large beautiful house, ocean front, pool and hot tub, what more do you need for a great beach vacation. No pets allowed policy was a must on my list, but my allergic reaction and remnants of pet hair throughout the house made it evident there was pets in the home. So if you need totally free of pet hair, this may not be the retreat location for you. So where I may not have had a great week, the rest of my family enjoyed all the property has to offer.

This spacious house was so well thought out. So nice that every bedroom has it's own bathroom and third floor living space has amazing ocean views. Sunrise is early so watching it while laying in the master bed enabled us to watch the sunrise every morning. Also west facing windows for sunsets. We had one minor maintenance issue, and the property management company was so responsive to remedy the issue. We will stay here again when we return to the Outer Banks.
