Dear AjayWe apologise for the issues with the room standards. We do have multiple car parks available, unfortunately thee spaces are available on a first come, first serve basis and they can get busy. But the main car park is only a short (30 second stroll) from reception.

Rooms large clean and comfortable but dated and worn, badly in need of refurbishment. Floors creaky and noisy. TV old and not smart. I am sure if they were refurbished and updated they would be as good as they once were.

We stayed for Valentine’s Day and the staff were incredibly helpful and polite. We were told after our stay that there should have been robes in our room however, we did not have them and we had a small issue with our evening meal which was resolved promptly and professionally. When it came to breakfast, there was loads to choose from including a cooked buffet, pancakes, cereal, etc. However, I recommend getting there before 9:30am as there was not a lot left. All in all, our stay at St Mellion was very good.

Quite a mixed experience.
There was one great receptionist during our stay (evening lady). However some of the others ranged from nonchalant to rude. Surprisingly hotel receptionists "dont book guest taxis", were rude to my friends at check-in and not very helpful on various other matters. The luggage room smelt. Saturday breakfast service was lacking: cutlery, food, service. Yes we did get there 15min before end of service, as did a lot of other guests, but theyd run out of food a long time before this and werent proactive in helping all the guests get a decent breakfast during service time. Hotel room showers didnt maintain temperature and occasionally and randonly scolded you. We booked into the Sunday carvery and again, service was lacking. Lack of staff mostly; we had to wait over 30mins before we could get the carvery food even though we had booked, as the chef wasnt available. Seemed guests were an inconvenience. However, swimming pool/spa was very nixe and great showers. Carvery food was lovely once we got it. Beds were comfortable, although room would have benefitted from a fridge.

Dear AlisonUnfortunately the situation with the taxis is beyond the hotels control. Being in a rural location it is a longer journey for taxi drivers and based on previous wasted journeys they have now instructed that they will only speak directly with the guest and in many cases require payment upfront. Staff cannot argue against this i am afraid. In terms of the luggage room, indeed there is a smell currently. It has in the last few days been refurbished and the smell of paint is yet to dissipate.

The room looked nice but had issues. One size fits all solid pillows which were too low for 1 and too high with 2. The shower never got hot and after maintenance came, we were told that it is health and safety (although the spa showers were a good temperature). All the floorboards were squeeky. One side light wouldn't point downwards (later fixed by maintenance) and the other turned off and on randomly.

Cottage review
Our stay was okay, the cottage was nice good location, however I felt the service was really really poor. The receptionist was very rude and mentioned both cars couldn’t fit on the drive when there was plenty of space for up to 3 cars, also there was no other lodges booked around us which could have accommodated if needed. Even though we were there for 3 nights we didn’t get fresh towels daily only had 2 supplied for a 4 person cottage and no fresh sheets each day if you were in the hotel? Which seemed very odd!. When asking for additional things that should have been in the cottage they said they were short staff and I would have to get it myself … being a frequent visitor to Mellion I’m not sure I would stay again.

Dear GuestThe property is advertised with parking for 1 vehicle as you never know what somebody is driving. Additionally we do not allow people to use the neighboring properties drives due to the fact that if guests arrive to find people taking their space it does not make for a good start. As for the towels. We do not replenish towels daily in any of the cottages. These are self catering and have facilities in them for washing items. We will replenish when requested but it is not included in the self catering as standard.

Really nice hotel. Friendly staff and decorated for xmas beautifully. Bit of a trek tinthe room and the lift wasnt working but really enjoyed the pool, sauna and the view was amazing. Would stay here again without hesitation.

Long weekend away
Booked a few days away some time ago, with the intention to perhaps play the two courses. Arrived to find the greens hollow tined and sanded. This was mentioned on the website, but considering the condition, no discount was on offer. I am not paying £100 per round to play on sanded greens full of spike holes. Breakfast was OK, but nothing special. Bar prices about what you would expect from such an establishment. Not cheap. Overall it was OK, but not going back in a hurry.

Poor customer experience....
Needed early check in but front desk was not accommodating at all. Worked all night long and ended up having to sleep in car until 3pm. They didn't try very hard to help me....an all around poor customer experience.

RalphCheck in time for the hotel is 3pm, this is communicated on all welcome confirmations. Staff will always try to get guests in earlier when possible. As guests do not need to depart until 11am and giving how busy we were the night before your arrival it was not possible to get you in earlier than the staff did.

Excellent service
Only one night, but an excellent stay. Reception staff were exceptional, especially Tony. Rooms were very clean and tidy. Only downside were the chairs in the room, which were uncomfortable to use as desk chairs for the laptop.
