2/10 Horrible

After weeks of searching for vacation homes across the Caribbean, my husband and I booked Casa Miradores for our week in San Pedro. The photos and reviews made it seem like the private, quiet, oceanfront escape we were looking for. The house itself is beautiful, well decorated, and was very clean when we arrived. We also arrived safely thanks to their driver, Junior, who was great.Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. Directly next door, a large multi-story building is under construction. Scaffolding full of workers from 7am–5pm overlooks the outdoor shower, pool, rooftop deck, and the floor-to-ceiling living room windows (which have no blinds). At the same time, another crew was building a seawall between the house and the ocean using heavy equipment including a water truck, bulldozer, and backhoe. There was also a crew using the lot on the other side of the house to cut rebar and build forms. From early morning until evening all we heard were machines, grinding, hammering, and yelling. There was also zero privacy, with 10-20 workers visible in every direction but the road. It made using the pool, beach, rooftop deck, outdoor shower, or even relaxing inside uncomfortable. On the second day the host offered to refund our unused nights, and we left immediately. I still feel the nights we stayed were nowhere close to the private, peaceful experience we paid for. Save yourself the disappointment and stay somewhere else.
