Scalby is a village on the outskirts of Scarborough and on the road to Whitby. This pretty village has a general store, a couple of traditional pubs and you are just over the road from a lovely, friendly café, making it a good location for a meal or a social evening when staying on holiday. Scalby Beck runs along the edge of the village down towards the sea, offering picturesque rural views and is perfect for dog walking, especially if your dog enjoys a swim. For the more energetic, take the Cinder Track either on foot or by bike, and enjoy the stunning coastal views along the way. Scalby is also on the route of the Tabular Hills Walk, which links Scarborough to the market town of Helmsley on the western side of the North York Moors National Park. There are many activities and attractions in the area. Dalby Forest has world cup mountain bike trails, Go Ape tree adventure and nature walks. The RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs is worth a visit and is home to thousands of sea birds nesting precariously on the cliff face.
