There were many small issues (cheap furniture, terrible lighting, poor sound and temperature insulation, etc.) but the primary issue was that the heaters stopped working after the first night. We came back from new years celebrations to a cold house and no space heaters to be found. We shivered through that night and I messaged the host first thing in the morning. No response for almost a full day. The heaters still did not work the next night. It was now so cold it was almost unbearable. We took the dog to my sisters house and my friend who was staying with me left early and did not stay the second night. I had nowhere else to go, though. I had to fill water bottles with hot water to try and stay warm. It was 35 outside and not much warmer in this unit. Early the next morning the host finally messaged me back with what barely constituted as an apology letting me know he reset the downstairs heater—but he did not reset the bedroom heaters so that did not help me get any more sleep.I also messaged the host on check-in day to confirm check in time, he did not respond until the next day, long after checkin. So this lack of responsiveness and care was already an issue.Overall this was a horrible stay. I do not like to leave negative reviews but these issues crossed a line and seriously impacted my trip. This was my first time using Vrbo as an alternative to other home booking sites and I will not be using it again.
