More like a proper home than a vacation rental, the hostess’s decorating talents are obvious in the superbly stocked kitchen, furnishings and art. Easy entry, wonderful bed, responsive and friendly owners. Great location too. Highly recommend!

I’m so grateful we found Kurt and Nicole’s apartment, she was so kind to leave some toys and crafts for my toddler. It was a perfectly appointed, clean, quiet. and well located unit, with everything one needs when away from home. It was also very thoughtfully decorated and within a beautiful craftsman home. Street parking was always available, and plenty of things to do nearby. Thank you for your hospitality Kurt and Nicole, we hope to be back soon!

This property was wonderful for our family of 4 (kids are 10 and 12 years old). The basement apartment was fully stocked in the kitchen with utensils, pots, and pans to allow for us to make breakfast each morning. The bathroom had a relaxing shower, soft towels, and a hairdryer. Both rooms had TVs that allowed us to have some chill time when we had down time after visiting family. The basement stayed nice and cool at night as my daughter and husband run hot. The owners were quick to get back to us with any questions we had. But one really helpful element of this Vrbo is that the checkout to do list was very minimal. Finally, we had a car with us and never had trouble finding a parking spot on the street outside the house. Would definitely recommend this property!

Fun stay in Ballard

We had a wonderful time in Seattle and the basement suite was in a perfect location. We especially enjoyed walking to bagels and coffee down the street in the mornings. The space was clean and well thought out, with everything we needed. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Home away from home

This comfy basement apartment in Ballard, Washington is truly your home away from home. The property is managed by the homeowner and they have done an absolute wonderful job of accessorizing this apartment to meet all your needs. Everything you can think of that you would need from your home is here in the apartment. The apartment feels spacious and has a separate entrance on the side of the home for your privacy and convenience. Above all, it was warm and comfortable. The location is excellent if you are visiting downtown Seattle or the northern neighborhoods in North Seattle with great access to the Puget Sound and many great restaurants, coffee shops, and bars within walking distance. The host did an outstanding job with communication and the property matched the photos which doesn't always happen. I can highly recommend this property as a great home away from home for your next visit to Seattle.

Best host ever

From the start of exiting the flight Nicole was very helpful on giving train to bus directions. We accidentally got dropped at the wrong location and Nicole offered to come get us with her personal vehicle which was only 4 blocks away but we opted to walk it. The apartment was very cute very homey and a washer/dryer was available for use before we boarded our cruise. If I ever go back to Seattle this will for sure be my place always. This apartment is a 20 minute bus ride to down town Seattle safe area very cute little town. I can’t give this place a more 5 star review! Best communication I have ever experienced!

Clean, quiet and calm!

Perfect spot for stay in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood

I highly recommend this property. It is a lovely, comfortable apartment with a superbly well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and linens, and a private well lit entrance. Nicole and Kurt are wonderful, helpful hosts who have thought of everything you may need. Nicole provides clear instructions for your check in, stay and departure, and she responds promptly if you have any questions. The location is very convenient for getting around in Ballad on foot or by car, and public transportation to downtown Seattle is a short walk away. I look forward to staying here again on my next trip to Seattle.

Perfect spot in Ballard

This was a perfect location for our stay in Ballard! The apartment was more spacious than expected, very clean and had everything we needed. It is exactly as described and more. It was a short walk to the restaurants, shops and farmers market. It was also very easy to hop on the bus and head into downtown Seattle. Home Away From Home

My husband and I stayed at Nicole and Kurt's Hummingbird Hide Away for two weeks in July 2023. From the moment we entered, we were delighted by the roominess of the Hummingbird. The 'spaces' of kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and living room were all separate rooms and not a studio as one might have thought. Every square inch of the place was well thought out in terms of clever use of space and all was spotlessly clean. The bed was super comfortable, there was a workspace available for remote work, and the kitchen had everything one could possibly need for any meal to be prepared. Nicole and Kurt were excellent hosts and it was obvious that they both enjoy their role welcoming guests to their lovely Hummingbird. The location within Ballard couldn't be better with a grocery store, restaurants, retail, and parks all within walking distance of half a mile or so. We took the bus to downtown Seattle twice and it was around the corner and right on time. We did have a car because there are so many wonderful day trips throughout the area and there was always a parking spot available in front of the Hummingbird. The cycling throughout Seattle and the greater area is wonderful and, it wasn't the easiest thing for them to do, but we were very grateful that Nicole and Kurt kindly stored our bikes overnight for the two weeks we were there. It was a wonderful stay and I hope we will have an opportunity to visit again.

I enjoyed my stay at this property. The location is accessible by public transportation. Whenever I wanted to use an Uber, they were available within 1 to 2 minutes. The host was very accommodating, warm, and easy to get along with. If you are a swimmer, the Ballard pool is an excellent choice. The pool is located about a mile away. I was unaware of this pool, and the host recommended it to me when she found out that I was traveling to downtown Seattle to go swimming at the YMCA. The apartment is clean has great appliances. I highly recommend this apartment. It is located in the basement, so there are stairs.
