North Shore Getaway

Great location (private and a beautiful location on the lake). Nice home but it’s showing some ware. Loved the oversized sliding doors that let in a breeze and view of the lake.

Had an amazing stay at this property with my family. A perfect location on the North Shore. The house has an open floor plan which was amazing and it had such a great view of Superior. The kitchen was well equipped and perfect for making our own meals. The beds were very comfortable as well. Spent a lot of time on the beach relaxing and agate hunting. Overall it was a great experience.

The setting couldn’t be more beautiful, including the grounds and winding path down to the rocky shore. We waited for a fairly calm day and had no trouble launching paddle boards, though the paddle north from black beach is a must. I concur with other reviews: this property is a strange mix of very clean floors, sinks, toilets, countertops, beds and other essentials but surprisingly grimy when it comes to shower curtains, kitchen cabinet handles, door jambs, door knobs, trim, and base molding. And yes, its well water but you still need a presentable shower curtain. At one point, I found myself cleaning because the grimy things aren’t gross, just distracting. The updates to the kitchen and baths now need updating given some disrepair - the chipped glass sink in the bathroom is downright dangerous. The beds are very comfortable, but the living room furniture is not at all. There is a great spot to pitch some tents half way down to the shore - would make for nice glamping…

Excellent Lake Exposure

House presents itself directly to the lake, which is the main draw for me. Kitchen is very functional, ample furniture, and the fire pit patio is awesome.The house added a water purifier since my last visit. That was a major upgrade and enhancement to the stay.

Not quite what we expected

We arrived and had no issues checking in and gaining access to the house. The first thing we noticed was the noise of the highway. It was quite loud. As we fixed dinner the first night I found that things were not as clean as I would have preferred. There was a drawer with several hot pads in the kitchen but they were so stiff and grungy we had to wash them before we were willing to use them. Some of the kitchen drawers had crumbs in them. The cabinet under the kitchen sink would not stay closed because it was damaged. I used a wooden spoon through the handles to keep the doors from constantly swinging open into the main path throu. We discovered after filling the dishwasher that there was no dishwasher detergent in the house. A sign on the front door asked you to remove your shoes but our socks were so dirty when we got ready to go to bed we wore our shoes in the house the rest of the stay. Several things were in disrepair. The back door was missing the knob and a piece of nylon rope with a knot at each end served as the closure. A metal strip on the top deck step was very loose and several times it tripped us. The stone floor in the master bath that looked so nice in the photos was filthy and appeared to have mud in the grout. The amenities list indicated each bedroom had a fan but we never found one for the third bedroom. The beds were clean and comfortable, plenty of towels, and the outdoor spaces were lovely but I don’t believe I would recommend this unit for your stay.

Stunning Views, but needs some work

The location of this property was absolutely stunning — the views were truly a highlight and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. It has a lot of potential to be a wonderful getaway spot. However, the property was let down by a number of issues that made our stay less enjoyable.There were no blinds in the bedrooms (just sheer curtains), so we were woken up very early each day with the sunrise. More concerning was the general lack of cleanliness — the space needed a deep clean, and there were bugs, cobwebs in the window screens, and visible dirt in several areas. A number of repairs were clearly overdue: the back door had no handle and the outdoor furniture was in rough shape. Additionally, the barn-style bathroom doors offered little privacy, which was uncomfortable for a shared space.With a thorough cleaning and some maintenance work, this place could be fantastic. But in its current condition, it falls short of expectations.

Weekend CC ski in February!

My husband and I spent a mid-February weekend in this fun cozy home. The views of Lake Superior are stunning! The large windows keep the Lake in view in almost every room of the house. You can even take a shower while viewing the lake. We were disappointed that the fireplace was not functioning, but the home stayed plenty warm from the furnace. We were able to stream our favorite shows on the TV. Like in previous reviews, we agree that this house could use more regular rigorous cleanings. We appreciate having our dog, so some extra dirt didn't bother us. Make sure to check with the owner if you are sensitive to fabric scents. The bedding had persistent strong fabric softener scent, which was almost too much for me.

Amazing Windows onto Lake Superior

We had wonderful sunny days which we enjoyed hiking but also relaxing back at the house with its gorgeous views of the lake -- from every single room on the lakeside of the house. Beds were very comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked.

New Year at the North Shore

Our family of 5 spent 4 nights at Stoney Shores. We enjoyed the open concept kitchen, dining and living room, where we spent all of our time together either making food, watching movies, cuddling by the fire or working on hobbies on the large butcher block counter. We ventured down to the water and outside at night to watch for shooting stars. All communications were quickly replied to and always helpful. The location was nice to be near many state parks as well. We hope to be back some day!

Stoney Shores Retreat is in a wonderful location-we enjoyed the view from the living room, along with a cozy fire in the fireplace. It was an enjoyable stay.

Breath taking view from the house.

The family that was with me were impressed with the location of the house and the ample view. We thought it was a little too cool at night in the house(had a little trouble figuring out how to work the furnace. It's location worked well for us on our golf trip with several decent courses we were able to play.
