We booked a Vacasa rental on a Saturday, but unfortunately our tour company cancelled our trip the very next day. We cancelled the reservation on Sunday—just a few hours outside Vacasa’s 24‑hour window—and reached out to explain the situation and see if they could offer at least a partial refund. Despite the circumstances, Vacasa refused to return any portion of the payment, including the cleaning fee for a stay that never happened. When we asked why the cleaning fee wouldn’t be refunded, the response we received was simply, “because we can based on the agreement.”We understand policies exist for a reason, but the lack of flexibility or willingness to work with customers in good faith was disappointing. Anyone considering booking through Vacasa should be aware of how strictly they enforce their policies and how little room there is for understanding or fairness. Proceed with caution and make sure you’re comfortable with their business practices before booking.
