Quiet and comfortable

The whole feeling was of a well maintained and very well stocked home. The kitchen had everything you would need and the bathroom was of a very high standard as were all areas of the house. It is in a very good location for exploring the area. The only minor criticism would be that the "leaving instructions" are rather vague regarding what to do with rubbish and one of the drive lights was out. We had a wonderful stay and will certainly stay there again.

Wonderful

Very clean, well stocked with amenities, and not another person in sight - just a couple of horses at the front, with birds and the odd rabbit at the back.

Great property, everything you need in a relaxing break.

We were delighted with the interior and garden of the property. It is a private, secure and quiet location. But what really stood out to us ( and we've stayed all over) was the outstanding cleanliness throughout and thoughtfulness provided by Housekeeping - thank you so much.

Lovely cottage for a short break.

Cottage was lovely- very high standard of furnishings and fittings. Spotless on arrival . Would be nice to have a seat under the tree and a parasol /cushions for the outside dining table. Very close to Tetbury for shopping and cafes. It was so peaceful and relaxing we so enjoyed the peace and quiet .Lots of extra thoughtful touches -books, magazines and guide books.

Excellent cottage - well located, very well equipped, spotlessly clean

We had an excellent stay at this lovely well located and extremely well equipped cottage. The owners had worked hard to make this a really nice property to rent for a long weekend (or longer). A couple of lamps (standard and table) in the sitting room would be the only suggestion we'd make to give it a more 'cosy' feel. Other than that it was perfect.

Cottage more than lived up to the online description and photos. The enclosed garden was perfect for our dog and for us to sit out enjoying early autumn sunshine. Well-equipped kitchen. Wonderful workspace on the first floor.

4 day break in Cotswold

The cottage was amazing, first class facilities and cleanliness. The location was stunning and we couldn’t have been luckier with the weather. We managed to have 4 bbq’s which was the icing on the cake. Sat outside every night enjoying the wildlife and quiet time together. The only concern we have was the carpet, which was cream We had a dog and we’re lucky with the weather, even so we didn’t want to leave dirt or marks on it, which we think would be difficult in wet conditions.

Great place for peace and quiet.

Farm field and woodland at boundary of cottage. Very little passing traffic. We sat outside and listened to the birdsong. Spotlessly clean cottage. Comfortable and cozy with woodburning stove. Top of narrow staircase might be a bit challenging for an elderly person who doesn't walk well.

Peace & tranquility

A real escape - with just the birds & the sound of the occasional horse snorting for company, the cottage is thoroughly & beautifully equipped. Views over fields were peaceful & pretty much everything has been thought of. We would certainly return

A perfect holiday cottage!

This house is perfect in every way. There is lots of space and the furniture is beautiful and stylish. The kitchen has all the equipment you need and the crockery and cutlery is of a high standard. It has exceptionally comfortable beds and quality bed linen with lovely blinds for a good nights sleep and a marvellous shower to enjoy in the morning. It’s a beautiful location, with parking and very quiet. The cottage is spotlessly clean and very well maintained. Just wonderful!

Perfect cottage in perfect location

Charlton Down Cottage is an impressive, solid Cotswold cottage in a secluded position on a very quiet lane, yet only five mins from Tetbury centre by car. The cottage is light and spacious, cosy and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. The beds are really comfortable and the bathroom is huge! The garden is completely secure for smaller dogs so ours was fine pottering about on his own. Thoroughly recommend

A peaceful, calm and comfortable cottage

We really enjoyed our stay here, comfortable sofas and beds. Lots of thought about dogs staying with towels provided. Very clean throughout. Our only feedback would be inadequate kitchen crockery, although enough sauce pans, not enough cooking dishes for the oven or serving dishes. The dining room chairs are pretty uncomfortable to sit on and could be made more comfy with the addition of cushions. There was no parasol or cushions for the outside chairs. All these simple additions would make it really good.

Perfect short break and great accomodation

We booked at Charlton Down Cottage, the booking experience was very smooth and all the arrival directions and details were easy to follow. The cottage itself was really nice, well equipped, warm and very comfortable. For those wanting fast internet it is worth knowing that the Cottage benefits from full fibre internet from rural broadband specialists Gigaclear which combined with the Smart TV meant it really was home from home. Having left we were contacted pretty quickly to be informed we'd left something behind and both the Bolthole office and Housekeeper were really helpful so we were able to drop by on our way home to collect the items. All in all a very positive experience.

A Beautiful Escape

We stayed for 11 nights here and it was absolutely brilliant. The house is lovely, a great layout with all the things you'd need and a lovely garden with a view over the field. We've only rated customer service as a 3 out of 5 purely because we weren't in contact with anyone so we can't accurately rate that. A 4 out of 5 on cleanliness only because of the washing machine, otherwise the place was clean and tidy! I thought it was a really nice touch that there were already supplies for the length of our stay, 11 dishwasher tablets, 11 firestarters etc. Some tea, coffee, milk and sugar was also at the ready which was lovely as we'd not yet been to the shops when we first turned up. The fireplace was amazing, grouped nicely with the comfy couch and big screen TV, movie nights were that much better! Dimming the living room lights, the fire roaring thanks to the wood supplied both set the perfect atmosphere for cosy nights in. The location was great! Being just a short drive from Tetbury meant we could easily pop into Tesco and grab everything we needed for our stay and explore a wonderful little town. The scenery was beautiful and the locals ever so friendly. The only thing we could fault is that the washing machine was a bit grimy in the dispenser tray but we gave it a good scrub to feel comfortable using it. A small pain but one we went through so the next visitors won't have to. Other than that everything was perfect! We'd absolutely stay again and I couldn't recommend it enough!
