We had the most wonderful stay at the Farmers Cabin in Normal, Illinois, thanks to the incredible hospitality of David and Ellie . They are such a lovely couple who made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. They took the time to walk us around their beautiful farm, introducing us to the animals and sharing their personal stories, which made the experience even more special. The connection we felt to this place and their warm hospitality is something we will cherish for the rest of our lives.
The cabin itself is cozy and charming, with picturesque surroundings and peaceful countryside vibes. Waking up to the sounds of nature and the farm animals made for such a unique and refreshing experience. We cannot emphasize enough how much we enjoyed our stay here, and we will definitely be returning. If youâre looking for a serene getaway with genuine, heartfelt hosts, we highly recommend staying at the Farmers Cabin!
An absolutely stunning cabin, meticulously decorated and kept in pristine condition. David was extremely courteous and made sure we had everything we needed. I had no idea how to fire up a grill, and he came over with a propane torch to make sure we me and my girlfriend didn't starve haha. Everything you would need in a weekend getaway, even the stuff I forgot to bring!
The property was lovely! Goats, Alpacas, Turkeys, Ducks. A very friendly black and white kitty. The cabin itself was just adorable. The hosts have obviously put in a lot of time and effort. There were umbrellas by the door. A porta potty in the closet. Charcoal and lighter fluid provided. Wood for the fire pit. We even received a welcome treat, makings for SâMores.
We believe that the listing had some issues. First and foremost the cabin is see through, meaning that there isnât any insulation. You can see the outside through the walls. Which means that the air conditioner upstairs keeps the upstairs cool at night. But the temperature downstairs is unlivable. When we got up at 7 am, the downstairs temperature was at 85 degrees. It was truly unbearable. We had to go out and keep ourselves occupied until the sun went down and the cabin cooled off. I sat in my car for 2 hours with the air conditioning on to cool down.
The second issue isnât so much that you have to walk to the bathhouse, but there is literally no room between the toilet and shower. I am a size 14 womenâs and I just fit. My legs were touching the walls just sitting. And trying to use toilet paper while sitting, forget it.
So when I read the listing I read, air conditioning, bathroom, 1 bed. I assumed that the bathroom was IN the cabin. So read carefully.
I never met the hosts. But thank you for the sweet corn. We would have loved to hear more about the farm. Best of luck in the future!
driving in it was beautiful, peaceful & we were ready to relax. the cabin was decorated super cute to accent the farm life. then⊠found the bath house! a lot more than a few steps away as described. 1 person could barely turn around & the mildew smell was the worst. ok⊠i can deal with this for 2 nights right! wrong. trying to get down the steep stairs from the bedroom in the middle of the night almost ended in a tumble down the stairs & a very long unlite walk to the bath house. it is connected to the main house & the dog barked every time i stepped onto the deck. by morning we had had enough of roughing it. and went to a hotel where the washroom was âliterallyâ a few steps away. i will definitely be reading & asking questions before booking next time
