Very comfortable and convenient place. Good communication with the owner. Plenty of space for our family group and easy commute to Old Forge and other local attractions. Rhiannon was very clear about requirements to launder sheets and towels and clean up after ourselves.
Historic train station a quick walk from the house.

It was clean and neat. The property is a little difficult to enter for someone with a physical limitation. The WiFi did not work. The network that we were told to use did not come up on any f our devices. The pots and pans were an avalanche waiting to happen but overall it was a good stay and I would use it again.

Cozy Getaway

Overall, my family and I loved staying at the Bear Den. It was only 3-4 minutes from town and had all the amenities we were looking for. The house was very clean and spacious, which was great for our family of 7. The host was also very responsive when we had questions which made for a great experience.

Have to do laundry and cleaning

After we booked we got an email saying there was no cleaning fee but that means we have to do the bulk of the cleaning (including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, wash/dry/fold laundry) and we have to incorporate a dump run into our stay. While the owner/caretaker did take our garbage, there were a lot of chores to do for a 2 night stay.When we arrived, the house had a bit of a musty smell. Also, since the beds weren't made, we had to do that. All the sheets were in several parts of the house, unfolded and unclear if they were actually washed. As a result we had to start the trip by washing sheets to dress beds. We got the impression that the people who stayed before us did not do all the required chores.We had to spend much of what could have been down time or exploring the area doing chores. Additionally, the house could use a deep clean... lots of dust and dirty floors. We tried to leave the house better than we found it however the cleaning was a huge pain. I'd much rather pay a cleaning fee than go on vacation to do chores.One of the chairs in the living room is very unsafe and should be removed/fixed; we had to make sure the kids stayed off of it.The location was perfect for us. We loved the porch and the space out there.

Nice house; Great location

The house is large and with beds for 7 or 8 people. We brought a crib too. The fridge was not working properly which caused a big waste of food. We were compensated for that. Owner was easy to reach too. But it wasn’t repaired during our stay which was very inconvenient. There was a second fridge in the garage. We bought a thermometer to check it and it wasn’t cold enough either. Buying groceries daily and keeping them cold was a challenge. Location is great for beach and water park.

A lovely stay in Old Forge. The property was right on the main road and a very short drive to Enchanted Forrest. No issues with the home or instructions, everything was clearly communicated to us. The owner was very quick to respond and make sure we had all that we needed. Would definitely stay here again!

Great house

Four generations of my family came to Old Forge for a weekend in September. Two groups camped at the Old Forge Camping resort and two stayed at the Thendara House. Everything was as described. We had a great front porch to sit on and there was a fire pit in the back yard. Our host was fantastic! She was always available to answer any questions that we had. The locations was fantastic! I would definitely recommend this house!

Just an ok home

We travelled to the area with 2 families (with kids). Rhi is a very responsive host and so sweet. She accommodated an early check-in and was very responsive. This is the first time staying in a property that offered self-cleaning. My definition of clean and others are just too different to ever do it again. The floors just felt dirty and we cleaned quite a bit when we first arrived and we definitely left the house cleaner than when we arrived. The house is old and definitely needs a little TLC. The beds are not the comfiest either. Location is wonderful. We were so close to everything we wanted to do. It worked for what we needed and our kids had fun. When booking be aware you are responsible for taking all your trash and recyclables to the drop station or with you or you’ll be charged. The drop station has limited hours which we thought was slightly inconvenient. Thank you for sharing your property

This was our second time staying at this property. it is a beautiful housein a lovely setting. Communication with the owners was A+. This house is even better in real life. its s comfortablevyou will feel right at home. Thank you for a much needed break after a busy summer. We hope to return in the future.

Property fairly clean, easy check in process but there was concern of cleanliness, after walking barefoot in house our feet were black (we believeaimly from carpet in kitchen) and previous renters pill box on fridge. House was closed up and first smelled musty after opening windows musty smell came out. There were a few fans, and we also brought a couple extra glad we did because it was very warm weekend. In the morning it was discovered there was no hot water, that was an easy fix owner did get back and stated there was a switch we needed to flip.we had 10 guest and there was lack of silverware for all to eat at same time, there were only 3 Teaspoons. (Teaspoons esp we had cereal for breakfast). They don't charge a cleaning fee guest are supposed to vacuum and clean but vacuum did not work properly the brush wasn't spinning and vacuum clogged with hair.
