Trashigang

Bhutan

Off the beaten path, Trashigang is set on a scenic hillside and was once a bustling trade center for merchants travelling between the Indian district of Assam and Tibet. The historic Trashigang Dzong sits high on a ridge overlooking the town. The town comes to life for Tshechu festival in November/December. The festival is an amazing display of dance, colourful costumes, masks and culminates with the display of the old Thongdrol of Guru Tshengyed (a very large and beautiful tapestry).
