My husband and have been going to Fort Recovery for a very long time but had not been back since Hurricane Irma so we weren’t sure how it faired.
Thankfully, much of the accommodations are still the same, the hosts and staff are equally welcoming and accommodating, and the other guests are friendly and relaxed so you still have your tranquil, private, laidback experience. And the view - well that hasn’t changed and is one of the most spectacular sunsets I have seen having traveled a lot and lived in Hawaii.
The condo/apartments are quaint, clean, and efficient. It’s nice to be able to bring in your own food/drinks because going out to eat every meal when you are on vacation can be exhausting. We actually did a fishing charter on day 2 so ate a lot of our catch on our porch watching sunset almost every night. You can dress up and go out downtown or over the mountain, you can take a quick drive to sopers hole marina for some awesome meals there or you can just chill at home.
My husband doesn’t love the sun but he likes to fish so he split his time under cover on the porch with the breezes watching the water or fishing off the rocks while I snorkeled and laid on the beach 10 feet away. It’s like having a private beach.
Justin and Brian, the owners and Anne and the housekeeping staff were super responsive and welcoming!
Highly recommend if you want to truly get away and relax. You will need a car or taxi service - not much walkable from their location!
