« Free parking and views of lake from the dining room were very good. Half board - the dinner was good but overpriced so the 10% service charge worked out extortionate. NOT GOOD We were put in a small loft room with a difficult door to open and a tight stair access- the room and whole property needs a lick of paint and could be cleaner. Location too far from bowness - walking into town is 20minutes but on both roads which had no pavement so very dangerous. Wouldn’t stay here again . »

« We came for a one night stay, two adults, one year old and a dog (one of the only places locally which allowed dogs!). The hotel looks beautiful as you drive up the winding driveway. We were warmly greeted by the receptionist and who checked us in smoothly. We had booked a four poster bed room as it had more space. « Hillthwaite feels staying in a family home rather than a hotel and the warm welcome certainly matches. The room was spacious and bedding extremely comfortable, which was perfect for a mini break in the area. Extra points for the bathtub (in addition to a full shower)! « Husband stayed here on his own previously on walking trip, bought me this time and we got the 4 poster room, billed as being best room in the Hotel, Room 12. Has dual aspect windows with amazing views and a jet bath. Restaurant and food was amazing. Nice choice of breakfast although trimmed down due to Covid-19. Free toiletries, tea/coffee, bed was very comfy and room very spacious. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Definitely coming back! »
