Not worth the Money

They are clearly taking advantage of Covid-19. Only 1 restaurant open. Not a full menu. No restaurants open for breakfast. No room cleaning service. No fresh towels. Even if I was to exchange the used towels. No garbage pick up. I was lead to believe that my room was walking distance to everything. It wasn't! It wasn't even on the main property. It was a good 5 minute drive & minimum half hour walk. The room was quaint. Way too many restrictions on everything. No sauna or steam room open at indoor pool. It happened to rain while I was there. Believe me when I tell you there is NOTHING to do there when it rains. When I checked out I had to strip the sheets from my bed, empty the garbages & throw all towels in the tub or else I would've been charged an additional fee. They clearly have an different meaning for the word Resort then I do. They had 2 weddings going on & I felt like because I wasn't part of the wedding I was a bother to them. All the spa times were booked up. Meanwhile, the nail salon & massage therapists were gone early on the weekends. Perhaps if you have people looking for treatments & willing to spend money you should stay open later? Most things on the property had additional fees too. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

The overall experience was good. There appears to be issues with the front dest and staff at the local resort restaurant, specifically, Pinnacle Southern, were not conducive to good customer service. The attitude was not friendly ( not the server) , but the manager on duty. We were not allowed to eat breakfast, arriving one minute before breakfast was supposedly closed. I believe management needs to take a little time in re-training their employees in customer service , and in encouraging a positive environment.

Be more generous with towels!

The Apple Valley villas need updating. No dishwasher. For 2 of us, we received a total of 4 towels for 3 days (2each). This includes what we were to use at the pool. Beds were actually comfortable. Need to switch from keys to care entry for units. The scenery was beautiful. Bicycle route in Spindale on old RR tracks paved over made for a good bike ride. Would come back next year of O knew I was getting units that were updated with reasonable amount of towels and appliances.

Rumbling bad!

The unit we rented at Rumbling bald was not acceptable. The room smelled moldy and the hot water had an awful smell. The unit was not well maintained and had carpet pieces piled in the corner of the entry way. The resort was nice and the restaurant on the lake was very good with super nice views.

Overall the property and amenities are incredible. The area is beautiful and I will definitely return. I am disappointed in some aspects of my unit. It is very dated, the Wi-Fi is slow and that is an understatement, and the direct TV was not subscribed to ESPN or ESPN2. The unit was comfortable and clean just older feeling.

Room was stuffy and warm at night. Unable to get comfortable. Air only came on once or twice entire night. Ceiling fan would b a great help. Not much lighting. After the dirty dancing after party guests were left to find their way in the dark. Very little light to get to car. They warned of bears on check in but no light to get to car They advertise lake view but there is no lake view from rooms. Not even one of golf course from our room. Only a gas station.

The rooms was perfect and more than what we expected, however the condos were too far away from restaurants, pools, beach and all other hotel amenities.

Beautiful resort with great ammenities. Only issue i have is being sent out of the main resort area, which is what i thought i had paid for, to a different property which looked nothing like the area i intended on staying at. Other than that, highly recommend this place.

The Rumbling Bald Resort was nice. The room, not so much. They were very outdated and in major need of renovating. The area was great, dining was good and the golf course was in great shape (considering all of the rain that's came in the past couple of weeks), it just could've been that much better if it weren't for the room...

Very nice place to JUST RELAX, no internet access on phone while out and that will make you stay at your room. Tv went out but it was fixed and they gave me a $25 gift card for the inconvenience and I gave that away to a couple cause we were leaving early that morning. People next door was like they were in our room. But don’t let this discourage you from going, but I will not be going back there.

Orbitz site did not specify that motorcycles wasn't allowed on the property so I rode mine and it made a big inconvenience.

Did not realize when I made the reservation that my room would be literally a mile down the road. You had to drive EVERYWHERE. Advertised lazy river...did not say bring your own rafts. Was very disappointed

Rumbling bald not a lake resort

We were really excited about this place until we got our room. We actually left a day early on our weekend stay. We thought we would be staying on the lake or at least close to but we were off the main campus of the resort about 2 miles down the road in Apple Valley villas. We were in Apple valley 38, we had a view of some pine trees bordered by the highway. That room was very out of date. The room was dark and muggy, the bed was terrible. The mattress cover was equivalent to sleeping on a trash bag, and the pillows paper thin. We asked for extras and they told us they didn't have any. They recommend you don't turn the A/C below 72 which didn't matter the room was so hot anyway. When we checked out early the lady at the front desk didn't even ask why. We will never recommend this place to anyone.

Disappointing for what we paid for.

A number of things were disappointing about this trip. First, we booked a "resort condo" for 2 nights, $200/night on Expedia, which is not what we were given on arrival. We were given a hotel room in a converted condo that was a mile up the road from the resort proper. Second, parts of the room were not clean, including the bathroom floor. There was construction / flooring material stockpiled under the beds. The AC kept one side of the room freezing cold and left the other side hot at all times. There was never any turndown or maid service in our 2-night stay. At the Bear's Den on Sunday morning, the staff was complaining loudly in the kitchen about how "badly run" the establishment is. We observed quite a few other examples of unprofessionalism around the outdoor food kiosks (it was Memorial Day weekend.) Finally, everything is grossly overpriced-- a "BBQ" sandwich with 1/4 cup of meat and a bag of chips with no drink was $9. House liquor was $7+. We were very happy with the main restaurant on the lake. But we will not return to Rumbling Bald unless the management changes.

Beautiful, But,,,,,

Hot water was stinking like rotten eggs. No shower during my two day stay. It was unbearable to wash in. The last day there the "waitress" acted like she didn't know anything about the breakfast we were supposed to receive. So I just paid for it all. Very much upset about this booking.

Villa

No one on duty at check-in so the waiter at the restaurant directed us to the security tower for check-in. This was on a Thursday evening around 6:30pm. The staff was nice, good waitress and security person. I felt that the villa was not what I expected at a resort. The water smelled like sulfer and they had a sign in the room asking us to take out the garbage and do the dishes before we left. I did appreciate having a refrigerator, stove, and microwave. The villa reminded me of a college studio apartment.

Nice Condo clean and neat.

Location was a little hard to find at first roads were very curvy and it was definitely remote. Had a blast exploring the area, had a great night listening to the music at the check-in lodge. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Chimney rock is an excellent hike and "Medina's bistro"served a wonderful protein breakfast bowl that was delicious and healthy! Best hot cocoa ever! The Biltmore was beautiful and we ate at the "Deerpark restaurant" it was fabulous!!

Outdated, amenities lacking. E.g. 1tiny bar of soap, extra pillows had no pillow cases, dimly lit, stained carpeting. Unfortunately I could go on.

Advertised as being on Lake Lure, however the villas are nowhere near the lake. Door lock wouldn’t work properly, refrigerator door stuck badly, toilet wouldn’t flush consistently

resort in beautiful area, tip of lake lure

had trouble getting a hotel in October but finally found this on expedia. we stayed in studio condo. its a rambling resort, not really a hotel. beautiful location but a bit of a ride to lake lure and chimney rock. we arrived late and just checked in at the security gate. ate breakfast at golf shop. sunday brunch didn't start til 10 and local Victory restaurant closed on sunday. kitchens in condos so can bring own food. we golfed at bald mtn course, and did mountain bike trail (hard). overall, we had great weekend.
