The customer service from Great North Lodges was wonderful. We found this lodge on their website and it matched all our requirements. They are happy to allow pets as well (we had 3).
From the lodge it is a drive back into the town centre for shopping at Tesco, Aldi or Home Bargains, but you can still walk that distance if you don't need to carry anything back. There's a lovely walk through the woods alongside the A9. It is closer to the Dalfaber estate where there is a co-op, pizzeria and chip shop, and these are within easy walking distance.
The bedrooms are all of a good size and all had TVs, and there were enough bathrooms to accommodate us all. The showers are all walk-in size and there's also a bath in the main bathroom.
A big lounge with full media TV and video games leads out to a covered hot tub (very nice when it's a bit drizzly). The kitchen is big and well stocked. The garden is lovely and looks out onto the woods at the rear of the property so plenty of wildlife to see.
The only gripes were: one mattress was too hard (personal taste though), the TV in the kitchen was not a smart TV so limited to what you could watch (only a problem when some of the group wanted to watch something different), and the garden shed is in the sunniest bit of the garden in the mornings (I like my coffee in the sunshine).
All in all, I would recommend this property for a family trip.
