It's a great place with great price for a family if you have a tight budget. The flat is located on the second floor and it's not a narrow steep walk up, so 78 years old mother could do it easily. It's a bit far away from the downtown, but Edinburgh is a walkable city. You can uber out to the city to enjoy and walk back home or walk to wherever you want and uber back home if you are too tired to walk. The sun doesn't really go down till after 10 or 11 during summer time, and it's safe to walk any time of the day. #5 Bus is around corner if you want to ride a bus. I've been to Edinburgh many times and this is one of typical Edinburgh flats. It has the original fireplaces but not renovated so although it's clean and spacious, shower water is a bit slow so it can be a bit inconvenient for a big family. However, my child and my mother didn't complain. Kitchen is a bit odd arrangement, but it has everything you need. A small inconvenience is not a big deal in a beautiful city. If you walk towards Marchmont rd, you can find grocery store and breajfast place and more, which is great for people who wants to cook and who doesn't. Communication with the owner can be slow if you want to know something way ahead of time, but she will be very communicative two days prior to your arrival and during your stay. She will get back to you quickly once you are there. It's a basic, but wodnerful place to stay and I would go back there again.
