Arrived 9pm to the unit at 52 degrees with thermostat set on 72, outside temp 30s. Reset thermostat, gave it time and no change! Called owner, who said he had no idea what was wrong but didn’t really act surprised to us. Immediately said he would refund our room fee and we could go somewhere else. 10pm 12/26 in Gatlinburg there’s not going to be any quality places left and we had drove 8H. Owner said he would try and find a HVAC Co and would refund that day if we wanted to stay. So we put on thermals, sweats all the blankets, hats and gloves and ruffed it out overnight freezing. In AM owner text repair person would be coming, unknown time. It was so cold we couldn’t shower. HVAC showed 11a and advised everything was working the way it should, the heat source can’t catch up quickly if the heat was turned down too low! (Which by the way the owner had mentioned this first call as possibility which leads me to believe he was aware of this issue for his unit). The owner blamed that the prior guest must of turned the heat down (but he instructs guest to turn the heat down when leaving). At this point we not only have been cold but lost 1/2 day of our 3d stay. Called owner, again offered room refund if we left but we were told housekeepers would bring a space heater from their other unit.
Again, we felt we had to stay do to low room inventory in town. We ask for a reduction in day 2&3s fee but owner shared the hardships he had been thru staying up late to find a HVAC guy and empathized that he had went without AC before! Not really the same and guest doesn’t care about how you have to put effort out to manage your property and make money! We were offered $324 back on our org total of $884. We did stay. Took a bath to try an warm up, tub wouldn’t drain, used plunger nothing. Spouse took shower in standing water. No one came with a space heater. Headed to pigeon forge to buy one ourselves, traffic tie ups, every place sold out another 2.5h of our day wasted and no space heater ever came. Tub drained while gone, room now 58 degrees. When we left 12/29 it had finally made it to 69, set to 72! Was told two parking spaces, first come and you were lucky to find one. Indoor pool said under construction. Other than no heat and tub that takes hours to drain the unit was very tastefully decorated as it appears but slapped over top of a very old hotel.
