My husband and I were traveling with a friend, so we needed two bedrooms. This place was spacious and had a great view of the ocean. It’s an easy walk to the beach and we had a nice walk in the morning. We brought our own food and planned to cook dinner and breakfast so we needed a fairly well equipped kitchen. There was plenty of stuff, but it looked like someone picked up all the unsold items at a garage sale and just dumped them willy nilly in the drawers. Much of it seemed to be odd components of gadgets one would never
need while traveling, and the items you would expect were difficult to find or nonexistent. We made do.
When we got there, the dishwasher was packed to the gills with dishes from the previous guest. I wasn’t thrilled to have to put away so many dishes upon arrival. They appeared clean, but it smelled like fried chicken inside which seemed odd. The large drip pan from the broiler was crammed in there so I went to remove it and put my hand into a gooey greasy mess. Someone added it after the dishwasher had finished. It was covered in someone else’s greasy leftovers. Yuck. I wasn’t about to clean it so I put it outside on the deck because of the smell. The rest of the dishes were probably clean, but I didn’t want to take any chances, so I ran the dishwasher again. I told the person at the front desk about this and she just said sorry. This wasn’t a great start to our visit. I had wanted to watch the sunset from the deck, but instead spent the time hassling around in the kitchen. I’m sure this was an isolated incident, but a little more attention to the dishwasher between guests would have made it a nicer experience.
