„This is a beautiful, large house designed and constructed in the 1930s for a wealthy Hilo family. The main interiors are dark wood, with original custom bannisters and similar craftsmanship, and the furnishings are period-correct. The present owners have upgraded in various ways, including adding in-room air conditioning (we didn't need, but it was nice to have the option), retrofitted bathrooms, kitchen, wiring, and similar. „Beautiful location near Volcanoes National Park and Volcano Village. Quiet, rain-forest grounds with fiddleheads, ferns, anthurium on walking path to hot tub. I was traveling with my hula sister and we wanted to watch the Merrie Monarch Festival on TV. The television was old with poor reception. I tried to contact the host through VRBO but couldn't get through. Called the VRBO help line and they cut me off so we watched on my computer instead. Glad I had it with me! Otherwise a pleasant stay.“

„A nice place, but limited check in times. Property a bit remote. . Room a bit damp,,, so had to use dehumidifier (which wasn’t on the hotel description!!!!!). Not high on the list to return to. “

„Very clean and simple room - quite nice. Expect the room to be super humid. There was a small dehumidifier, but it didn’t do much. The best was turning on the heater in the early morning to dry the air when the temp was cool enough. No message before arrival and no phone answer. Host responded to Vrbo messages within minutes though and gave me the information. I reserved the day before, so it could have been last minute. „We split our vacation to stay half on each side, and stayed here first. Because we are staying on the Kona side for the second half, we landed in Kona, so it was quite a drive - THAT WE WERE TOTALLY EXPECTING! This is not a complaint, just a statement ;) We arrived in the dark, but were still able to see what a beautiful home this was! „Beautiful spot, house is large, nicely furnished and decorated with a well stocked kitchen and other amenities. In a residential neighborhood, very friendly atmosphere and pleasant area to walk around. Pahoa is a quiet town, has a nice new grocery market and a few fun places to go out to eat or drink. We saw tons of whales go by from the lanai and enjoyed short day trips to Hilo and Volcano.“

„Das Häuschen ist gemütlich mit einer schönen Terrasse. Allerdings eignet es sich mehr für Pärchen, für Freunde ist das relativ schmale Bett nicht jedermanns Sache. Nachts hört man den Sound der Natur, zirpen der Grillen, Vogelgezwitscher u.ä. Der Vermieter ist hilfsbereit, hält sich ansonsten diskret zurück. Wir hatten einen angenehmen Aufenthalt.“
