« Our stay at the New Inn 1730 was only overnight, and we arrived around 6pm on a Sunday evening. This is a welcoming & friendly pub, with restaurant and accommodation. The owner did his best to accommodate our needs during our short stay, and is still finding his feet a little having only recently taken on the business. « Cute little cottage in a quiet little town, down a little side street away from the main road, suited our needs. We stayed n December so the cottage although small took a fair time to warm up , underfloor heating downstairs was nice but the fire needed to be on aswell to heat the cottage toa decent temp. « L'accueil dans cet hôtel qui fait aussi pub et restaurant est très chaleureux. Les chambres sont assez spacieuse et la literie confortable, même si cela semble un peu vieillot...(c'est peu être à la mode en Angleterre..?) Toutefois, pour ce tarif on y est bien mieux que dans une chaine d'hôtel style F1... Bref pour un séjour sans se ruiner sur Durham et sa région, je recommande vivement cet hôtel ! »

« The plusses were the location, view of the castle, comfort of bedding and pillows and lounging in the parlor with the fake coal fire place. The down side is the house needs a lot of TLC. The front yard and back were full of weeds and some garbage that blows in on the busy street out front. The carpets, entry tile and bathroom grout need a deep cleaning. Also be prepared to buy all supplies even garbage bags, TP & paper towels. Overall though it is charming & comfortable …lots of activity outside...
