« lovely pub owned by the Lowther Estate. Stayed 3 nights while attending a wedding at Askham hall 6 minutes drive away. Food was well above usual pub food, and sourced from the Estate. Recently refubished. Walls a little thin and you could hear voices from room next door. Also no lift and original worn stone stairs to bedrooms, so may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. Staff helpful. by the second day when they realised I liked fresh milk for my tea in the bedroom, they put a fresh...

« Loud noise and vibration from something. No one in reception as stated but dailing 0 in information pack did not work and emergency number went unanswered after trying for a few minutes and all I got was a sorry. »

« Pretty remote so if you’re out driving, make sure you become familiar with the (fairly convenient) bus schedule, although it’s a half mile from the bus stop, or be prepared to pay a healthy taxi/Uber fare from Keswick. The grounds are lovely and rooms/common areas well-maintained. Breakfast doesn’t start until 0745, very inconvenient for an early start. Staff could be a little more helpful in pointing out bus schedule, local attractions, arranging cabs, etc. a nice experience overall. »

« What lovely staff, so friendly. This is the best place i have stayed in yet on my Coast to Coast walk. Breakfast was amazing, apart from the usual full english (which loses its novelty after 5 days!) chose eggs benedict which was perfectly cooked and made a lovely change. Room was spacious and bed comfy. All together a great place to stay. »

« Beautiful property very close to towne, which is lovely, wonderful breakfast, helpful staff! Only issue was no dinner available at restaurant. Other than that it was awesome! We loved this stop on our travels throughout europe »
