We found this to suit our needs perfectly. The only issue we had was another guest knocking our door at 3am asking where the toilet was!

No issues here

Booked in for a couple nights. Was a little worried due to the old reviews. Overall though it was a clean room and comfortable stay. Due to being in a city, it was a bit nosey at night but this didn’t personally bother me. There was a strange odour (like cheesey snacks) but again, didn’t bother me. Overall, I just wanted a cheap place to stay and this was better than other places I’ve been. Would stay again

Not a bad hidden place

Overall stay was good, but will be ask for a £50 pending deposit but will be explained before entering the room about the use of entrance and room keys what the deposit is used for due to previous guest getting keys muddled up with the wrong doors and having to call a locksmith. The host explained the use of the shower by using a switch to get hot water and explained about just flushing toilet paper in the bowl instead of any sanitary products that may affect the deposit. Other then that the room had a tv, tea/coffee making facilities in the room, beds were comfortable. Location had a greek restuarant next door and had a nice pubs within walking distance and city centre was about a good 10 minute walk. This was at slant of a hill but was easy to get too. Trainstation was not too far either.

Avoid!

Very synthetic bedding, hot and uncomfortable. I was in a room with some kind of motor on the other side of the wall that ran intermittently throughout the night. The shower (along the corridor) was useless ran hot and cold and no power to speak of. Even at £80 for the night not worth the money.

A room for the night

The property wasn’t easy to find. We needed to tell the property 24 hours in advance when we would be checking in as reception is not manned all the time. The member of staff was officious and couldn’t have talked any faster. We did not feel welcome especially as we were warned about using the correct key to get in the room or they would need to call out a locksmith. We were expected to charge £50 for any incidentals to the credit card. It was slightly insulting that an explanation was given re how to work the electric shower. We had a room that had a private bathroom assigned to it. We had a key to let ourselves into the room containing a shower, sink and toilet. The bedroom was well equipped with a kettle, plenty of tea/coffee/milk, a toaster and a microwave. Both rooms were in need of a freshening up with a lick of paint. It is ideally located for all activities in the city centre. We do not think the room was value for money

Uncomfortable and didn’t feel safe

The hotel was hard to find, it’s in a corner and not very clear on Google maps. I called the reception for help, he was very rude. I stood outside in the rain. On entering the hotel, I didnot feel safe and requested if I could cancel the room. The rude receptionist told me I wouldn’t be refunded as it’s my business and hotels.com. At this point I had not option than to stay where I was uncomfortable. The Room pictures are deceptive. The heating was not working just warm. The kettle was broken. The room had unpleasant smell. I generally felt unsafe. Not to forget, the receptionist surprised me by asking for £40 deposit before entering the room. He said I would get it back after 3 to 5 working days. It’s now 10 days plus.

Guter Ausgangspunkt für einen Städtetrip

Wir waren zwei Nächte im der Robin 7 Lodge. Es ist kein klassisches Hotel mit 24 Stunden Rezeption, sondern vielmehr hatten wir das Gefühl in einer kleinen Ferienwohnung zu sein. Das Zimmer war schön und sauber. Das Bad ist schon etwas älter, was man an den Wasserleitungen merkt, aber das ist ganz normal für England. Die Lage ist gut für einen Städtetrip.

- Hotel is very small with only 7 rooms. Manager told us he would be totally booked out, but we never saw other guests. - Good for us: Hotel was very quiet. - Hotel apparently offers afternoon tea or whisky tasting, but there was nobody at the offered times. Instead, there were no lights switched on in the entire hotel and the front door was locked. As hotel guests, we entered through a side entrance with a separate key. - Pictures displayed by the hotel make the rooms look bigger. Ours was only 3x3,5m. - Manager was only seen twice on site. Once during check-in, second time for breakfast next morning. No other personnel than one chambermaid on site. - At the check-in, the manager requested to block GBP 50 on my credit card for room damage. Despite my request for a copy of that signed form, I was never given one. - Since we had a room (apple room) with a private, but separate bathroom, he offered us an upgrade to a better room for extra charge. After we found out that apparently, we were the only guests, we thought that this was just a trick to make money. - After our first and only breakfast, we were told that we cannot have breakfast on the subsequent days since he has to clean the kitchen for a visit of the local health authority - in which world would you ever tell this to a guest? We were happy not to have breakfast there again. - After all, I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. We did not feel welcome there at all.

Appalling

Where to start... stood in the street until someone lets you in. No lift, very narrow stairs. Forced to pay for a "damage waiver"...I'm mid 60's and on my own??. Tiny room, NO en suite..shared bathroom. Sat on the bed, went straight through the mattress and landed on the wooden slats...no sleep. WiFi didn't work..Flat screen TV, smaller than my laptop..No card entry, just a ridiculous amount of keys to take with you..I paid £75 for the privelege, won't be going there again
