I always use VRBO or other vacation rental sites when I travel and THIS was the worst experience ever!
When we opened the door to the Vacasa Property we were immediately hit by the stench of a dead animal and the place was infested with flies. We discovered the smell was coming from the garbage disposal so we tried to use whenever cleaners we had at hand to resolve the problem. We were not able to so we called the main Vacasa contact line.
There were 5 callers ahead of us so we took the advice of the automated message and texted the company. The company texted back stating they would contact the local agent. We also texted the local agent then left the property because the stench was too much. Three hours later - still no response. We went to a local convenient store and bought $40 worth of cleaning supplies hoping to mask the vile odor and tame the flies so we could sleep.
The next day we talked to someone at the main Vacasa number. Our complaint had been received and registered; however, there was no response from the local agent. The Vacasa agent said they would call the local agent and call us back in 5 minutes…..that was over 2 days ago and I still have not heard from either the Vacasa company or the local agent.
Over our 3 days stay, we cleaned the garbage disposal and kitchen in general 5 different times and yet, I still could not sit on the couch without being swarmed by flies. I couldn’t even use the bathroom without flies. The flies were everywhere!
The Vacasa Property Management and local agent for this property not only didn’t resolve the issue, they completely ignored us. There is no excuse for this apathetic, unprofessional and absolutely shameful customer service. Did VRBO even vet the Vacasa company? Sadly, based on this experience, if VRBO is trusting their reputation to companies like Vacasa, we won’t be trusting our vacations to VRBO.
