We had a great stay at the Villa! loved the views, birds, nature, beds and wonderful bathrooms, laundry and shower! I didn't read well enough to see there was no oven, so our first quick pick up was an oven lasagna from the frozen section. We ended up using the grill to bake it. It worked but we had some burnt ends :) Things are a little dated but everything was in working order. Some information should be updated. I don't think there is a way to the lake and the wellness path isn't really accessible without boots, walking sticks and an adventurous body. It makes a short path into jungle but stops with a barbed wire fence. Several houses nearby and one with barking dogs - albeit, not very much. We would definitely recommend to others. A bird lovers paradise for sure! We put out fruit and drew in lots of winged friends.

We worked with Dennis from the management co., and he was very accommodating. He replied quickly and resolved all our issues in a timely manner.Amenities were excellent, with great views, the variety of birds were incredible, we had a great time.

The villa is as excellent as described and reviewed by others. We felt like we were home, loved the early mornings on the deck upstairs and loved the walking trails around us. I wish we could have stayed longer but that in essence is the reason we will be back! :)

Rainforest paradise

There’s two parts to this listing- the inside and the outside. The outside was 10/10. It was a perfect setting, with hiking available straight from your door. We saw flocks of toucans, poisonous dart frogs, monkeys, parakeets & more. The surrounding land, gardens and forest were a complete dream. It was exactly what we wanted and why we stayed. The inside had some challenges. The listing made it seem like there are two bedrooms. There are two bedrooms… one in each separate apartment. This was a problem for us, as we were traveling with young children & can’t leave them by themselves in a totally separate place. I wouldn’t have booked this if I had known that. The roof was leaking in the downstairs bedroom and the laundry room was letting water in. It was rainy season & it rained daily. This made the house smell of mold & mildew. We had to keep all windows open with fans on to tolerate it. Finally, the beds were very, very hard. Having said all that… the property management company was 10/10. They were extremely responsive and helpful. They responded to every request- helped us move a bed so we could all sleep in the upstairs room, fixed the roof and laundry room water issues and found us a mattress topper. They offered local suggestions and were kind. Excellent management company.It’s an older home with some maintenance issues & the listing needs to be clearer about there being two separate apartments. But can you really trade waking up to rainforest animals & nature?

Paradise in Paradise

The Villa was wonderful. The grounds were like a botanical garden. We saw wildlife, howler monkeys, toucans and numerous birds, from the patio! It's location was perfect. The proximity to adventures and local restaurants was ideal. We would definitely stay here again.

A Hidden Gem in the Jungle – Pure Magic!

Lake View Villa was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we felt embraced by the peaceful energy of the property and its surroundings. Nestled among the trees with views that steal your breath away, this home was the perfect balance of rustic charm and thoughtful comfort.One of the highlights was the wellness walking trail—a forest path that felt like stepping into another world. We were constantly in awe of the vibrant birds that graced our walks. Every step brought us closer to nature and serenity.And then there was Bigote, the neighbor’s sweet dog who quickly became our trail companion and honorary therapy pup. He greeted us like old friends, walked beside us like a loyal guide, and truly made us miss our own pups just a little less.The villa itself is clearly designed with love. Everything we needed was there—from the kitchen supplies that made cooking a joy to the cozy spaces for reading, playing games, and simply being. The view from the upstairs bedroom was breathtaking, while the downstairs offered a warm, homey vibe that made us feel deeply at peace.We worked online during our stay and used our mobile hotspot without issue. The environment made “remote work” feel more like a retreat.The owners and property managers were wonderfully kind and responsive. When we accidentally locked ourselves out one night, someone arrived to help within 10 minutes. Their kindness added to the feeling that this place isn’t just a vacation rental—it’s Pura Vida!

Wonderful nature escape!

We had a wonderful stay, family of 5. We enjoyed the wellness walk and all of the beautiful landscaping and foliage that attracts the nature that surrounds you. Make sure you get to the 10 spot to enjoy the ancient tree. We loved having coffee on the deck around the master upstairs, watching birds of every color and type, we even saw toucan and green parrots in the tree. Has binoculars available also. Had everything we needed including bottled jugs of water when first getting to the property. The road is blacktopped getting there if you are coming from Liberia, take 1 and then 142, go down to Tilaran and then back up has best roads. Not as many restaurants open for dinner nearby, like in La Fortuna, but had good food. This place is a tropical escape you shouldn’t miss.

Private Paradise

We enjoyed our first visit to the Villa (and to Costa Rica) very much! All of the words used to describe this setting are so true--Private, paradise, beautiful tropical gardens...it is all of this and more! It truly was an escape from our hectic lives. It was so nice to just relax on the property some days and easy to drive to an excursion away from the Villa when we wanted. Horseback riding with Alex just up the road is awesome--we rode up the mountain side with incredible views. Alex's restaurant is very good also and it is so close--don't pass up his hand made cheese! The Villa is very well equipped with everything needed to enjoy meals there--the panini maker was great to have and dining on the patio during sunset was truly memorable! We definitely look forward to staying here again.

This home was simply paradise, and none of us wanted to leave! Everything in this home was completely stocked with everything that we needed. It was also very clean which is a big plus for our family. This property was truly everything we wanted and more. We are already planning for a future trip next year.

The villa has a great view of the lake and is extremely quiet. It’s secluded but still close to the main road and we felt like it was a safe area The directions provided by the owner are good but it is hard to find at night. The furniture, bedding and amenities are pretty old but we were not expecting 5 star. We loved Nuevo Arenal compared to the very touristy La Fortuna but there are of course more activities there. Overall very happy with the villa

Special Spot in Nuevo Arenal

This home is special even though it poured most of our week there. We were told by several locals and neighbors that the torrential rain was unusual for January ( we thought we were going during the dry season). Luckily the house has several areas protected from the rain and we saw many dozens of incredible birds we had never seen in the U.S. Also had Coati wandering through the backyard.We highly recommend this home.One thing to know is that the roads closest to the house are very curvy and were fine when it wasn’t raining and foggy but were reluctant to go out when the rain was coming down. The Hotel Rana was super close , driving wise and the food and staff were great.They enjoyed sharing food with the birds and bringing them close so we could see them up close.

Beautiful grounds and great experience

The property is definitely on the rustic side but all the core amenities are there. The grounds are spectacular! Hiking trails in the back are amazing. There are stunning streams, large trees, and more. The area around the property is rugged and we encountered road closures due to mudslides. Overall, it’s a fantastic experience if you’re looking for a true rainforest and mountain getaway.

Tropical Paradise

Property is gorgeous. It is a quiet haven that makes a great home base for exploring the area. Watching the hummingbirds and other tropical birds is a great way to spend your time. The place has everything you need to relax and enjoy Costa Rica.

Paradise!

This was our first time to Costa Rica and we could not have been more blown away by this place! The house was spectacular and the surrounding rainforest where we could explore made the experience even more wonderful! We really enjoyed the dipping pool after spending the day exploring. The town of Nuevo Arenal was great! Very friendly people, great Sodas to eat at, and plentiful grocery stores. One note regarding the house, the upstairs and downstairs are not connected from the inside, only from the outside. With little kids, dad slept upstairs with a kid and mom was downstairs with the others. But this set up is great for families with older kids or two families vacationing together.

Beautiful Tropical Getaway

Just like everyone has stated, this property is beautiful. The property is very well maintained. It is like one big garden with lots of flowers and walking paths. The paths that go through the forest and also down to the lake are very enjoyable to walk along. The house was in great shape and had everything we needed. The house stayed cool with the windows open. We had 7 of us there and had plenty of room. We didn't have any issues at all and really enjoyed the place. I would not hesitate to go back there again.

Pineapple Paradise

This trip was our first visit to Costa Rica. We started with a 2-day raft trip on the Pacuare River, then found ourselves in this Private Villa tropical paradise, listening to howler monkeys and watching toucans and a variety of other birds from the second story balcony💕 We nicknamed this house the Pineapple Paradise because of the pineapples growing in the garden below. After Costa Rican drip coffee, we were able to adventure through the soft forest floor discovering many colorful insects and flora on the trail to the lake. Then it felt refreshing to cool off in the splash pool with the combination of afternoon rain. The location of the house was a perfect distance from the recreation around La Fortuna, but away from the hustle bustle of the town. One day we met with a neighbor who was redirecting a stray cow from our driveway. She and her husband and happy little dog were so friendly and gave us a tour of her nursery, pura vida! The house is well stocked, including binoculars! It was easy to cook meals, then play family games inside and out! Our family appreciated the 2 floors, leaving the bottom floor to our 3 teen kids, and my husband and I could retreat to our own space upstairs. It was a magical experience that we will remember forever. Thank you.

The property is absolutely stunning! There is wildlife galore on the property and you feel like you’re in the middle of the rainforest. We had perfect weather and it was a little cooler but, if it wasn’t, the lack of air conditioning may have been rough! Love love loved this place and so did the whole group. 10/10 would recommend.

ABSOLUTE PARADISE

Oh my!!! What an experience! The property was absolutely fantastic! It gave us all of the peace and seclusion that we needed! My husband and I celebrated our 13 year wedding anniversary and my birthday for 5 days and I can truly say this was by far the BEST villa I have ever visited. The tropical paradise that we experienced was unreal. First of all, the property is HUGE and the landscape is GORGEOUS! I called it the Garden of Eden. The view of the lake and rainforest was amazing from the upstairs section of the villa. The flowers and various plants were stunningly beautiful and the variation of different trees, including palm trees were very pleasing to the eye. There are lime trees and pineapple bushes on the property, which was an amazing treat and we used one that had fallen to take shots and add to our salads one day. The villa is well-stocked with plenty of dishes, cookware, and everything else. The washer and dryer was a big plus because it rained a bit while we were there, but I did not mind. It comes and goes. The plunge pools were so nice and the trails were great! More like something out of The Jungle Book. Might I add, the variety of BIRDS was such a pleasant addition. Many different humming birds and other beautiful tropical birds visited every day in abundance. They sang to us every morning. It was amazing to see! I took a walk everyday on the property and discovered something new and serene each day! It was HEAVEN! Book and you will not regret it!

Our family truly enjoyed the beautiful grounds and location of Lake View Villa. We woke to howler monkeys every morning and our sons saw 3. We saw multiple birds including hummingbirds, toucans, aracaris, parrots, parakeets, bananaquits and many more. Grounds are well maintained, very peaceful and relaxing. The location is close to good restaurants and 2 small sized grocery stores (10-15 minutes) and within about an hour of other activities.

Beautiful gardens. Spent hours on balcony watching wildlife enjoying coffee in the morning and margaritas in afternoon. Everything you need is there at a reasonable price. Close to good restaurants (10 minutes) multitude of activities within 1 hours drive. Do not hesitate to rent this beautiful quiet home.

Nature Lovers' Paradise

The Villa was a wonderful place to stay for a relaxing week in nature. The birds were breathtaking. We heard howler monkeys every day and saw them several times. A very persistent coati was often attempting to pilfer the fruit from the birds. The grounds and paths are beautiful, but because of the rain we didn't have much opportunity to explore. However, the weather was warm, and the patio was dry, and the birds did not seem to mind the rain. They were always ready to put on a great show!
