"We stayed one night at The Dakota in Sioux Falls as a stopover before heading to Chicago, and overall it was a pleasant experience. The facilities were clean and comfortable, and the room was spacious — exactly what you need after a long day on the road. The lady at reception was exceptionally kind and welcoming, which we truly appreciated. Check-in did feel noticeably longer than at other places we’ve stayed during our trip even though the guest checking in in front of us was mostly done, but the staff remained courteous throughout and was simply filling all the paper work needed to give us our keys. Our biggest disappointment was that the swimming pool was unavailable, despite our confirmation email received that day highlighting the pool hours of operation. After a seven-hour drive, a swim would have been perfect and we were looking forward to it. The receptionist saw our devasted faces when she shared that the pool was closed and actually offered compensation, but unfortunately, since we had booked through Expedia, she couldn’t process it. Talk about disappointment!! Breakfast was standard for this type of stay - simple but sufficient. The hotel is also conveniently located close to charming downtown Sioux Falls, which pleasantly surprised us with great dining options, a beautiful park, and interesting historical sites. Despite the hiccup with the pool, we’d still say it was a good stay overall, and the friendly service made a difference."
