« After a very tiring walk across the moors. the Tan Hill offered a very welcoming sight. Even better was the ambience inside, with a very welcoming and helpful host. The bedroom was tastefully decorated with a massive bed and lovely shower room. Needing a hearty meal the 3 of us were delighted with melt in the mouth cooked to perfection steak and chicken pies and a giant Yorkshire boeuf bourgignon. We will be back ! »

« L'hôtel est en bord de route mais la chambre donnait sur l'arrivée (vue sur un champ de blé), donc calme. Nous avons pris le repas du soir et le petit-déjeuner : tres bon rapport qualité-prix. « We asked for a late check out and even though the hotel was absolutely empty - (we were the only two people at breakfast in a room that could seat 100) the hotel still denied a late checkout (personally I think 11am checkout is too early) so we were charged an extra £20 for a 12pm checkout. « I stay here on a regular basis when I travel between Glasgow and the south. The hotel is a grand old building in a beautiful little hamlet off the A1 with lots of history. Due to this and the fact its family owned and not part of a huge chain, it’s a bit worn in places but it’s clean, comfortable and cosy with plenty of charm and quirks.. « A comfortable and nicely appointed hotel in the centre of the town. Many hotels allow early check-in if rooms are available, but NOT the Hampton by Hilton. You pay £10 per hour extra.
