When we got to the property it was filthy. The floor was nasty, end tables were dusty, the drawers and bottom kitchen cabinets were full of mouse droppings and the dishes werenât clean. There were nails and screws and dirt in the crevice of the futon. We put the dishes in the dishwasher and it didnât work. One of the showers was brown with dirt. We called the owner and he sent a cleaning service in the next day. They did a good job. The rental was not adequately furnished with towels, wash cloths, dish towels, dish cloths and hot pads. It was scant on cooking utensils, silverware and it didnât have any bakeware. The owner had me buy these things and he reimbursed me. The owner replaced the dishwasher while we were there and had an electrician do some repairs. When the unit was renovated after the hurricane, the work was a disaster. The sub floor wasnât replaced, so the floor has soft spots and ripples. The laminate top had to be nailed down. There are lots of places where one piece would be higher than the next. It was very uneven. Some of the doors were warped and wouldnât shut. The paint job looked like a bunch of preschoolers did it. There were places where nails would be sticking out and were painted over. The trim near the floor looked awful. There were supposed to be 2 queen beds, but the one in the guest room was a double bed. The siding on the outside had cracks in places and it wasnât trimmed out.
We went in knowing the area is still rebuilding from not only hurricane Milton, but also from the one in 2022 (Ian). There were a few things in the home that needed attention and the owner was very accommodating, communicative and prompt in rectifying those issues. We loved the location! There were 3 beaches within 20-30 minute drive, and great shopping in the same reach. The gatehouse personnel at the property were very friendly and got to recognizing me, my wife, and mom as we came and went.Good experience overall.
Where to startâŠthe pictures shown were obviously taken before Hurricane Ian destroyed much of the park in 2022. While this unit stood, itâs clear it was flooded and this host did minimal rehab before renting through VRBO. In fact, the entire community is under a âboil-waterâ mandate, the âcentral air-conditioningâ was a window unit, the interior doors were swollen and didnât close. Add to that mouse droppings, mold, and a washer that still contained salt and rust from the 2022 flood.
UNINHABITABLE!!!
