I arrived about 9 pm. The temp was 70, with 71% humidity. I set the thermostat to 65. After 10 min, the sytem kicked off. I contacted the owner. He said to close the blinds & give the thermostat time to communicate with the A/C. Ten min had already passed. The temp had gone up & the humidity was now 76%. By 10 pm, it was clear the situation wasn't improving. I let the owner know & made other plans. The next day at 2:30, the temp was 67, BUT the humidity was 80%. I stayed 20+ min. The temp rose a degree. I let the owner know what the conditions were. Clearly the A/C wasn't working properly. I told him I wouldn't stay that night & wanted to cancel the 3rd night as well & asked for a full refund. The owner refused saying, "because the air conditioning is operating and the property remains habitable, I won't be able to offer a refund for the reservation." He never acknowledged that the humidity was a problem. He continued, "if you notice anything that suggests the system has STOPPED WORKING ENTIRELY, please let me know right away so I can address it promptly." (emphasis added) I pressed the point about the humidity, asking again for a refund. The owner refused saying," ...you chose to end your stay before I was given the opportunity to have the system inspected or otherwise address the issue." The offer to have the system inspected didn't come until his 3rd reply to me on the afternoon of day 2 (of 3). How long was I to wait for him to get someone to work on the system?
