6/10 Satisfaisant

It was a place to rest our head at night.
We were really looking forward to our weekend getaway in Galveston, but unfortunately, this home didn’t meet expectations.Parking was confusing from the start—you can either park on the street in front of the house or navigate a narrow back alley to park behind it. Neither option was clearly explained, which made arrival more stressful than it needed to be.Inside, several areas were in need of attention. The shower heads were outdated and barely functional, and the laundry area felt more like an afterthought than a usable space—it’s located outside, poorly lit, and damp, which made doing laundry feel unpleasant. One of the more unsettling moments came over 24 hours after check-in. While we were relaxing on the front porch, we suddenly heard a voice through the Ring doorbell saying, “Can I help you?” At first, we thought it was an error and ignored it, but moments later, it happened again. My husband, understandably frustrated, responded that we were guests. The homeowner then replied, “Just wanted to make sure you didn’t need anything.”It left us feeling uncomfortable and watched, as if we weren’t welcome to simply enjoy the space we had rented.Overall, the experience was disappointing. While the location had potential, the lack of clear communication and the feeling of being monitored overshadowed what was supposed to be a relaxing getaway.
