The property itself was good overall—clean, spacious, and exactly as described in terms of layout and comfort. We enjoyed the space, and the location worked well for our week-long Thanksgiving trip. However, the well water had a very strong sulfur smell during our stay. It was noticeable enough that we couldn’t drink or cook with it and ended up using bottled water for cooking and brushing our teeth. As a female with long hair, the smell was especially tough to deal with for an entire week. This is something that would’ve been extremely helpful to know in advance, as we likely would have chosen another property given the severity of the odor.I reached out to the host, who mentioned that the smell “tends to come and go,” but during our stay it was consistently strong and hard to ignore. If the water situation is addressed or communicated more clearly ahead of time, this would be a great place to stay.Additionally, the fishing pond was difficult to access. We had to walk several houses down through someone else’s property to get to it, and once there, it was too shallow for the kids to fish from the bank. The water near the edge was only about 2 feet deep, and we would have needed a boat to reach deeper water to actually fish.Overall, the home has potential, but better communication about the water and more accurate expectations regarding the pond would have made our stay more enjoyable.
