« Nous sommes un peu déçus… l’hôtel est en fait attenant au manoir et non dans le manoir. Nos chambres n’étaient pas très propres (draps salis, rideaux déchirés, trace de nourriture présente sur la moquette) mais spacieux (les enfants avaient leur propre chambre attenante). La piscine est un peu vieillotte. Le personnel est discret, poli mais un peu trop détaché des besoins des clients. »

As I was leaving Tintern Abbey I saw the ruins of St Mary the Virgin on Chapel Hill just peeking through the trees and the ivy. If it had of been a clearer day I would have hiked up the hill for a closer look and to take some more photos.

Grand 15th-century castle that eventually fell to Parliamentary forces during the English Civil War (1646). The castle was surrendered mostly in-tact, but was slighted (purposefully disabled) to prevent any future use as a fortification.

Today it's an atmospheric ruin that makes for a fun visit.

"Quelle déception cet hotel ! Comment Best Western a pu référencer un tel établissement ! Des chambres sans confort : des porte-manteaux cassés ainsi que la robineterie de la douche , une ampoule manquante sur le lustre ! Une chambre toute petite, humide et avec peu de lumière , des linos de sdb usés ! Un dejeuner en lenteur : 30 minutes d'attente ! A oublier ! Passer votre chemin ! "
