Mit der Familie und kleinen Kindern gereist

We were very disappointed with our stay at Prize by Radisson, Hamburg St. Pauli. Despite the brand name and the price, the hotel is noticeably run-down. You see it everywhere: the reception, hallways, and rooms are filled with worn furniture and stained carpets. It feels neglected.
The staff at reception were slow and lacked any real desire to help, seemingly just going through their checklists. However, the absolute low point was a fire alarm at 2:00 AM. We had to wake and dress our 2-year-old child and wait outside for over 30 minutes for the fire department to clear the building.
When we asked for an explanation the next day, the receptionist dismissively claimed it was a "technical defect" and that such things "happen anywhere." Interestingly, there’s a sign in the bathroom asking guests to keep the door closed while bathing to avoid triggering the "very sensitive" smoke detectors. It’s clear this is a known, recurring issue that management simply hasn't bothered to fix properly.
It feels like the hotel relies on Hamburg's high tourism demand to maintain prices without putting in the effort to maintain the facilities or service. The only positive was the breakfast, which was okay, but it was exactly the same every day with very little variety or choice.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel, especially for families. You’re paying for a brand name that the physical reality of the building simply doesn't live up to.
