This was my first VRBO rental and will be the last! Will stick to hotels for all future vacations. The place was trouble from the very beginning, there was construction on the road the house was off of (not the fault of the owner) the entrance was blocked by heavy equipment and vehicles. So, after dealing with that for nearly 30 mins, the keys to the door would not go into the keyhole, after several attempts I contacted the owner, she tells me to force the key into the opening! I'm thinking to myself, yeah right, so I will break the lock and be charged for it. After a few minutes of thinking it over and the owner assuring me I would not be charged if the lock does break. The only way I could forcibly get the key to go in was by tapping the with a rock. After finally getting the key in, it would not turn!! We all tried several times, then my son grabbed 2 semi flat rocks, placed them on each side of the key then again forcibly turned it to be able to open the door. The final straw to this whole ordeal, was of course, the key now would not come out of the lock! At this point we were all frustrated and exhausted from the drive from Jacksonville so we left it in for now and got settled in. Was pleased to see nice, and what appeared to be clean house. The appearance of a clean house quickly dissipated after seeing the first of many roaches!! Grew up around roaches so it didn't bother me too much, even tho I hadn't seen any in over 30 years! Recliner broken too!
