This was our first time to Hilton Head Island and we arrived about 2 hours after Tropical Storm Idalia had passed through. Sea Pines in general is very dark at night (very little street lighting). This coupled with storm aftermath made it difficult to navigate for a first timer. I would suggest to plan your arrival for daylight. Communication from the host before arrival was great, though locating their office after hours in the dark to retrieve the gate passes was somewhat difficult. The house was much larger and more spacious than we expected and everything was clean and tidy. Our children said their beds were comfortable. Master bed wasn’t terrible. Basic necessities were provided and appreciated. Sitting on the back deck is peaceful and quiet. The location in Sea Pines was farther away than we thought, but that was a good thing as it was away from the business near Harbor Town and is very close to Publix and Starbucks. We did see one dead and three living cockroaches in the house. The literature from the host calls them palmetto bugs, but this is simply just a colloquial name in the US Southeast for cockroaches. I reported this to the host and they scheduled an exterminator for after we left and offered to have them visit immediately if desired. This wasn’t necessary, but the response and action from the host was appreciated.
