I had a wonderful stay at the Daiwa Hotel Nishi Shinjuku. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of the city, and having a 7-Eleven conveniently located inside the building made everything incredibly easy. The hotel offers many thoughtful perks, such as free, high-quality cosmetic amenities and complimentary bottled water, which I really appreciated.

Great location for some travel plans (but see below), stylish and comfortable. If I were plannign to make good use of the overly expensive JR-Pass by doing day excursions from Tokyo, this hotel would certainly be a very good base to start from.
If you want to explore Tokyo, however, I think other locations might be better suited. Wherever you are in Tokyo, if you want to see something else you have to travel by metro for a while - so maybe planning ahead and deciding on where you want to be most ...
