Twin Willows is a private 14-acre mountain estate in Mars Hill, North Carolina, offering exclusive overnight use of three separate guest homes in a peaceful, scenic setting. During winter months, the estate is conveniently located just two exits south of Hatley Pointe, which offers downhill skiing and family-friendly snow tubing. With ample space, privacy, and comfort, Twin Willows serves as an ideal home base for winter gatherings, ski weekends, and seasonal mountain getaways.
Designed for groups who value space and togetherness, the overnight rental includes three distinct accommodations: Stines House, a spacious historic home ideal for large families and reunions; The Stable, a beautifully renovated barn home with rustic character and scenic views; and Cascade Cottage, a fully ADA-compliant, stand-alone cottage offering accessible comfort. Renting the estate provides exclusive access to all three homes, allowing guests to stay close while enjoying private, separate spaces.
After a day of mountain activities, guests return to a warm, relaxed environment with multiple gathering areas, comfortable sleeping accommodations, and room to spread out across the residential portion of the estate. Twin Willows is well suited for family celebrations, retreats, and group stays throughout the year.
Property Layout & Guest Access
Guests have exclusive use of all three guest homes along with access to residential outdoor areas directly associated with the homes, including walking paths, fire pits, lawns, and gathering spaces. Each home features its own living areas, kitchens or kitchenettes, bedrooms, and bathrooms, offering flexibility for a wide range of group needs.
Estate Layout & Proximity
The three homes are thoughtfully positioned to balance proximity and privacy. Cascade Cottage is connected to Stines House by a covered walkway, and some outdoor areas may be visible between homes. Quiet hours are observed across the estate, maintaining a relaxed, residential atmosphere.
Designated dining and event areas are located near the entrance of the property and are intentionally separated from the overnight guest homes. These spaces operate independently and are not included with the overnight rental.
Interaction with Guests
Self check-in is provided for convenience. We are available by message if assistance is needed while respecting guest privacy. Staff may be present near the entrance of the property during seasonal food service hours or scheduled events.

Optional on-site food and beverage service is available near the entrance of the property on select days and hours and operates independently from the overnight rental.

Follow GPS to the Twin Willows entrance (525 Cascade St, Mars Hill, NC 28754). Continue past the food and event parking area near the entrance and follow posted signage to the guest homes.

We enjoyed our stay. Property is clean and comfortable. The owner (Joe) is very friendly and helpful. We accidentally locked ourselves out of one of the bedrooms and the issue was resolved quickly. The food, music, and other activities available at the facilities next door were an added bonus. Overall it was a great stay.

Magical Wedding
We held our wedding and welcome dinner here and our wedding day was magical. It allowed all our friends to stay on property with us and offered multiple locations to host the events throughout the weekend; got married in the chapel and dinner at one of the houses. Great space!

Wedding and Family Reunion
We chose this property for our 45 people micro-wedding and family reunion. It was a wonderful venue and place to stay. We had our ceremony in the garden of the Stines House and reception at the Stable. I constantly communicated with Amy until the weekend of our stay and I communicated with Joe throughout my stay. They are wonderful hosts and were very helpful and communicative throughout the whole process.

Wonderful property for multigenerational family get together!
Everything worked out well for our family of 28, ranging from 1-100 in age!
We celebrated our Mother’s 100th birthday in the large space in the Stable and all met for breakfast in the Stine House!

Church Mission Trip Stay at Twin Willows
Twin Willows has been where my church in Pittsburgh, PA have stayed for the past 2 years when we've come down to Mars Hill, NC to do mission work with the Community Housing Coalition of Madison County. Joe and the Twin Willows property have been ideal for our group--it met all of our needs, from gathering spaces, to sleeping arrangements, to plenty of amenities for food and such. We adore Joe and the Twin Willows property and would highly recommend anyone staying here!

Wedding at Twin Willows
This property is perfect for a wedding. There are plenty of bedrooms for family, friends and wedding party to enjoy an extended event. Joe and Amy were extremely helpful and always willing to answer questions at a moment’s notice. Our daughter was over the moon with how everything turned out for her special day. The chapel on-site was a big hit with the wedding guests and the grounds were so beautiful.

We love the variety of spaces and sleeping arrangements for our church group. We use The Stable as our meal prep and dining area and use the other two buildings for lodging. the Main House and Stable are great for group gatherings and the Cottage works well for those who need a little more peace and quiet from the group. Ample towels and other amenities are provided. All kitchens are well-stocked. The Main House is an historic, old building with character - respect of buildings with interesting floor plans from days gone by will help you embrace this space. Terrific porch spaces. Washers and dryers are all new and work well. Great water pressure throughout. Once in bedrooms, you'll appreciate how quiet things are - no road noise. We love to eat at Smokin' Joe's on property. Joe is a gracious host.

Amazing Cousin's Reunion
If you are coming to this area, then you MUST consider Twin Willows as your place to stay. The 3 houses were absolutely perfect for our Cousin's reunion. Spacious, clean, well stocked, and comfortable with plenty of room for everyone to spend time together and still have a quiet space to rest in the evenings. We loved having the Stables as a gathering spot for coffee, meals and evening drinks as well as the little "bar" down the hill for cornhole and hanging out together after being out for the day. There was nothing we wanted for; all houses were well stocked and our host, Joe, was beyond helpful, super responsive and considerate with providing suggestions on things to do in the area. We will definitely be back!!

Outstanding for Family Reunion
We rented all 3 buildings for a 20 person family reunion. Facility was GREAT for multi-family gathering. Joe, the new owner, was GREAT and very responsive to deal with.
Only minor surprise was the big kitchen and eating room is in the Stables - not the Stines House (that sleeps 14). The Stines kitchen is too small to pull off big event. The kitchen and eating area in the Stables worked very well. All worked for us, but if we hadn't rented the Stables too, we would have been disappointed.
Strongly recommend the estate and the owners.

Great wedding weekend
We loved staying here and celebrating our intimate wedding with our friends and family. The property is beautiful, and it was perfect to be able to spread out our group across the three buildings. And the chapel was the cutest little spot to have our ceremony. Everything was very clean with plenty of towels and extra amenities.
The fire pit is amazing but keep in mind that the whole place is situated on the side of a hill so anyone with physical difficulties may struggle in between the buildings or to get up to the fire pit spot.
We would definitely recommend this place - it was also super convenient to town but felt remote at the same time. The property is beautiful with plenty of places to explore or sit down and hang out. Thank you for having us, Joe/Twin Willows!

Amazing estate with perfect location
We were a group of about 15 friends, including couples, families, single people, a young child, and a dog. We had a fabulous time at Twin Willows!
Property: The three houses were absolutely perfect for our group. People could be up late talking in the Stables while people could go to sleep early in the other two houses. The Stables definitely had the best large common space for group dinners and hangouts. The whole estate is absolutely gorgeous and we loved the view off of the patio there! No complaints about the facilities or the rooms.
Location: It's around a 20-minute drive to get into Asheville, but we didn't mind that. It was incredibly convenient to have coffee, Ingles, Waffle House, etc. so close to the property; it absolutely removed all stress about having food. You can easily walk to the Mars Hill University campus and access downtown and a nice running path from there (you're only on the road for about 500 feet before you get to a sidewalk).
Joe was extremely responsive to a few requests we had and was a great host!
