The host is very prompt. The room is clean. The night time is quiet. Actually the days I’ve been here it has been quiet, too.

One Nighter in Route

Unique location in the middle of woods/jungle well off the paved road (easily done with 2WD) very basic accommodations as described and pictured. Good bed! Hosts provided good directions and related information. Cost effective.

Better than camping. After climbing the small set of stairs, which puts the units off the ground enough to keep away some of the bugs, our studio was one of 5 or 6 units that all had locking doors from the central open air common area. Unit has its own bathroom towels, sink w/hand soap, toilet and shower. Unit also has a propane cook top and insulated ice chest that can be kept cool with free ice packs from the common area freezer. Great value that allowed us to use our money on other adventures. We will definitely be checking availability here on our next adventure to the big island.

Great experience.

Checking in was lil confusing. I didn't know I was in the right room since there are multiple rooms alike. Info about hot water and wifi cut-off time was hard to find online. Nature comes alive at night so it's loud. A lil tip or forewarning would be helpful or some earplugs on hand. Other than that if you're looking for a true nature experience this is the place to do that. Highly recommend.

Don't waist your money staying here !

Had the most horrific time paper thin walls it advertised as separate and detached it is a hostile many people staying in one building with absolutely no luxury of privacy! Cockroaches were everywhere I had to hang things to keep it off the floor it was disgusting I asked for a refund because of the false advertisement and the conditions with our stay. Absolutely no communication back there is no Aloha here!

Think of it as luxury camping and you'll be happy. If your idea of comfort is umbrella drinks by the pool, you will not. Personally, I loved it. But it's not for everyone. This is a rustic cabin in the jungle. 4.5 miles off the main road, 2.2 miles of it is dirt (well maintained, regular cars not a problem). 15 minute drive to nearest civilization (the part of the description being in the middle of a historic town is inaccurate - it's 7 miles outside a historic town). There are 4 walls, roof (corrugated plastic), lockable door, comfortable bed, private bathroom with hot water. Cleanliness on the level of a well-kept public campground. WIFI and cell service. Electricity to keep your devices charged. Being what it is, the room gets hot when it's sunny. Chilly at night (they thoughtfully provide 2 blankets on the bed, which during the day make no sense - at night they do). When it rains the roof is LOUD. Every night the coqui frogs are LOUD, and they go all night. You are immersed in nature, but sheltered from it better than in a tent. If this excites you, you'll love it. If it doesn't, this is not for you. The value for the money is exceptional - some bare camp sites charge more. Highly recommended for those who enjoy camping and want authentic big island experience with better-than-tent comfort.
