Ein wunderschönes Hotel
Das Hotel ist wirklich wunderschön mit einem toll angelegten Garten. Es wird ein kostenfreies Frühstück angeboten sowie von 15-17.00 Uhr ein Nachmittagssnack inklusive Wein. Der Pool ist sehr sauber und vor Blicken geschützt, über eine Straße gelangt man zum hauseigenen Strandzugang. Die Zimmer sind sehr individuell und gemütlich eingerichtet. Leider verfügte unser Zimmer nur über ein Queensize Bett, was für unsere persönlichen Verhältnisse zu klein ist. Dies war allerdings bei der Buchung schon klar und somit keine Überraschung. Das Bad ist zweckmäßig eingerichtet, mir allerdings teilweise auch zu eng. Ich gehe davon aus, dass dies jedoch auch von Zimmer zu Zimmer variiert und ebenfalls Geschmacksache ist. Die beiden Punkte fallen bei meiner Bewertung daher nicht ins Gewicht. Wichtig jedoch ist zu erwähnen, dass das Hotel über keinen Aufzug verfügt.

Gemuetliches B&B
Wir haben uns im First Colony Inn sehr wohlgefuehlt. Wir wurden mit selbst gebackenem Kuchen und mit verschiedenen Getraenken zur Happy Hour verwoehnt. Auch das Fruehstueck war liebevoll zubereitet. Das First Colony Inn war sehr gemuetlich und heimelig. Wir koennen es waermstens empfehlen.

Tolles Hotel in Nags Head
mit eigenem Strandzugang (man muss dazu eine kleine Straße überqueren). Sehr freundliches Personal und leckeres Frühstück. Gute Restaurants in unmittelbarer Nähe.

The First Colony Inn is a lovely old property in a great location for visiting the Outer Banks. Our room was spacious, clean and well appointed. Buffet breakfast choices were very good and the hot option varied each day. There's a wonderful beach opposite the inn and a good selection of restaurants and shops nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

We loved our stay. Everyone was so kind especially the girl who worked so hard from check in and out serving breakfast cleaning table’s getting us ice. I wish I knew her name. She is a great employee and kind person. She deserves every cent of her pay plus way more. Breakfast’s were delicious. Short walk to the ocean. A very much needed getaway! Thank you for everything!

Room 21 was unimpressive. Upon entering, we saw that all table lamp shades were crooked and the room temperature was very cold. Not a good first impression. After settling in, found that the wind rattled the door (remedied with a washcloth placed in door jamb) and the bed was really uncomfortable and noisy. There were other notables (iron, ironing board, and shower curtain liner should be replaced and the refrigerator needs to be secured). The FCI is a jewel that, given attention to the details, would absolutely sparkle.

Vintage charm of historic inn. Rooms are cozy and comfortable, with antique furnishings as individual as each room. Home cooked delicious hot breakfast (including fresh baked pastries, mixed fruit and berries) and a late afternoon wine and cheese hospitality hour.

Wonderful experience!! An amazing part of history with clean and comfortable rooms!! The afternoon charcuterie board and wine were a nice bonus! Breakfast was homemade every morning and was very satisfying! Staff really treated us well and were also vey willing to talk about the history of the property! We will alway have fond memories of this stay and highly recommend this to anyone wanting to stay in this cozy and comfortable inn!!

Great Breakfast! Clean! Older facility with Antique furniture. Had towel warming rack in bathroom. Toilet and tub were very low if you have issues getting back up. I loved it and would definitely go again. had chairs outside your room on the porch to sit and look over the gardens and outdoor pool. Only thing that would make it better was an oceanview. You could hear the ocean but not see it. Great stay would stay again.

OK -- not great
We enjoyed our stay. Good location, attractive property, nicer than staying at a chain. It's a bit faded and less attractive than the website shows -- closer to a busy road, some mold in the shower, a slow bathroom sink drain. The bed was large and comfortable. Our assigned breakfast time (we were not expecting this) was too late for our plans, so we skipped it, though other reviewers say it's very good. The landscaping is lovely! We'd probably stay somewhere else next time.

I liked the breakfast and afternoon social. I think the room needs a bench upon which suitcases can be placed. Also the bathroom needs a table to place miscellaneous toiletries. Drapes at all the windows would provide more privacy. Right now there are blinds but they don’t hang close enough to the window.

This would be a 5 star if they just cleaned it up a little bit, and used an indoor pesticide. We were welcomed by what I believed to be a brown recluse spider, and I had a wonderful response from the manager who was able to put us in another room. The bathrooms were especially in need of cleaning. The shower curtain had black mold on it and the box of soap in shower was wet? Sink could really use some cleaning as there was crap that could simply be scrubbed off. The first room head of bed also leaned downward, and the coffee mugs were filthy. I would love this place if it were just cleaned properly and for goodness sakes replace the shower curtain. Ew…

Hi Joanne, You will be happy to know that we are indeed on a quarterly pest control for indoor/outdoor. The spider you saw was a wolf spider and as soon as he crossed the line he was on death's door. I have taken your concerns to the housekeeping supervisor. Thankfully we don't have black mold but we do have to deal with mildew in this area with all the humidity. I am glad that my assistant was able to upgrade you to a new room that met your expectations.

Loved my stay at First Colony Inn! The property is beautiful and it has a great path to the beach which is wonderful. Breakfast is very nice and so is the afternoon wine and snacks selection. This place is highly recommended if you’re planning a trip to The Outer Banks.

Little gem
Spent one night here for a quick getaway. Would absolutely stay there again. Everything was clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly. Beautiful grounds and all very relaxing. Breakfast was excellent. There is a dedicated path to the beach. Beds were comfortable. My only very minor complaint would be there is no extra blanket in the room and we were a little chilled from walking on the beach in the evening.

Beautiful property and we really enjoyed the breakfasts! The room was very clean. The only problem we had was that the tv wasn't connecting so we only got a couple of channels. One of the guys at the property came to the room to look at it, but I guess it wasn't something that could be fixed in a couple of days. We never heard or asked again about it.
