1. There was no king size bed which is a requirement when we rent. 2. The unit was in overall poor condition. There was wallpaper peeling off the wall in the dibing room, doorknobs were missing on one of the bedroom doors, the overall cleanliness was poor (dining room rug was dirty, dust in the corners of the bedrooms)3. No information available for guests (WI-FI password, how to operate electronics)4. Heating system not working.

Family stay

6 of us stayed comfortably in this lovely early 1900’s brick home Pittsburgh neighborhood. The upstairs bathroom had a standard tub/shower/sink/bath. Downstairs shower/ bath was quite small. The owner was polite and accommodating when we had to reset the WiFi. We did notice a few tiny ants on the kitchen floor, which is common in the area during that time of year.

Perfect location and vibe for graduation & reunion

This old house was perfect for our family and friends gathering for our kid's graduation. It is an easy 15-minute walk to CMU and located in a pretty neighborhood with mixed with students and permanent residents. We wanted socializing space - a dining room, living room, and porch for hanging out - and this house provided all of that. The place is old and not recently renovated, so don't expect spic and span modern. But it did have heat, AC, Internet, parking, and clean and comfortable beds. We had grandmom, uncles and aunts all above 60 and everyone loved the personality and comfort. We kind of laughed about how it reminded us of places that we lived in college, which just added to the fun. Joseph was very responsive from beginning to end.

Long weekend in Pitt

Similar to other reviews we found communication with the property manager & location very good. It is on a busy street so there was some traffic noise. The pictures make the home look newer than it is so just know it’s an older building.

Highs and lows

The host had us checking in a day later than was booked, however did apologize and make things right l; the heat was not working and water was not on, although by the first night they had both functional; the pictures make it look nicer as most all of the wallpaper had fallen off, some stapled to try to keep it up; the top floor never was warmer than 50 degrees so we didn’t get a chance to use it; property manager did communicate throughout process; nice neighborhood in Pittsburgh.

Comfortable stay in Squirrel Hill

Our family had a lovely stay here- it was safe, quiet, fun, clean, and in a beautiful neighborhood. The house is an older house, so you need to expect some things that go with that, but it was clean and very functional for our family. There was AC, but it consisted of two window units (one on the third floor and one in the main bedroom on the second floor). We made use of all of the spaces. The kids really enjoyed the popcorn maker and the game room upstairs. I appreciated the off-street parking, the functional and fully prepared kitchen (with dishwasher detergent and coffee!), and porches. On our second day there were two fawns that decided to bed down next to the house that didn’t mind us gawking at them from the driveway. The owner checked in with us to make sure everything was going well while we were there. We would stay again if we find ourselves in Pittsburgh again.

No air conditioning and needs maintenance

This is in a nice, well-located neighborhood, and the host, Joseph, is extremely nice and responsive. However, he does not live in the area, and was not fully aware of many of the maintenance problems when we visited in early June, 2024. First and foremost -- it is NOT air conditioned, and listing air conditioning as an amenity is false advertising. There is a small window unit in the 3rd floor attic rec room. Joseph told me that there was supposed to be another larger window unit for the downstairs area, but it was not installed at the time we there, and the three bedrooms on the second floor are not and will not be air conditioned. It was hot and humid, and some of our party had a very difficult time sleeping. There were tower fans in each bedroom, but they were not enough. Other issues: There were no screens on the front downstairs windows, so we could not open them to create a cross breeze without letting in bugs. There was only one toilet paper roll for two bathrooms. There is not enough hot water for two people to shower at the same time. A bedroom doorknob and a closet doorknob both fell off the first time we touched them. The refrigerator was extremely loud and not very cold. The cheap stick-on wallpaper was peeling everywhere. The place needs attention.

Roomy house in Squirrel Hill

Wonderful experience! The neighborhood was quiet and beautiful. The house is an older house, but it was immaculately clean. We were so impressed by how absolutely every place in the house was spotless! The property manager was fantastic. He responded to every message promptly - most of the time within minutes. The house had plenty of room for my husband, me, and our adult son. The game room on the 3rd floor was a nice perk! We would stay there again.
