I don’t usually write reviews, but I’m sharing this to help improve the experience at the VIU Boutique Cabins.
The cabin was as clean as a log cabin can be, and the view was spectacular. However, several issues affected our stay. Access to the property was difficult—the road is extremely steep, and a 4x4 is practically required. The cabin had hot water, but the shower drain didn’t work properly, causing water to pool around my feet and taking several minutes to drain. The bathroom also lacked space for toiletries, and there was no shelf in the shower for shampoo or conditioner.
The upper floor, where the main bed is located, became very warm during the day, requiring the AC. At night in January, the cabin got very cold and windy. We requested extra blankets after an uncomfortable first night, but they were never delivered, and we were cold again the second night.
On our second day, I found a cockroach inside my makeup bag, which was very unpleasant. We didn’t use the kitchen, pool, or fire pit, so I can’t comment on those amenities.
The property has two gates, which initially made me feel safe. However, after returning from a concert, the guard refused to let us through and told us to take another route. The next day, after checking out, the same guard wouldn’t open the gate unless we paid him. We ended up giving him $5 just to exit.
Overall, I would give this place 2 stars. For the price, it did not meet expectations, and I would not return or recommend it.
