Bearfoot Hideaway is a two-bedroom cabin in the Sky Harbor neighborhood, sitting almost exactly between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge — seven miles to one, seven and a half to the other. It was built in 2020, and it sleeps eight.
Both bedrooms have their own bathroom, which is the thing that makes this work for two families travelling together rather than one. There's a queen and a twin bunk in the first room, a queen in the second, and a queen sofa bed in the living room.
The hot tub is on a screened porch, so bugs and rain are somebody else's problem. Out on the deck there's a swing, hammocks, cornhole and a foosball table, and enough seating that eight people aren't taking turns. Inside, a gas fireplace runs October through March, a smart TV in each bedroom, and a kitchen set up to cook for a full house.
Distances
- Downtown Gatlinburg: 7 miles
- The Island, Pigeon Forge: 7.4 miles
- Dollywood: 9.5 miles
Getting here and parking
The driveway is semi-circular and holds three or four cars. The transition from the street is steep, so take it slowly in a low car — and if you're coming in winter or there's snow on the ground, a high-clearance, AWD or 4x4 vehicle is a much better idea. Approaching the cabin, the right-hand side of the driveway is the easier of the two.
There are 23 steps up to the front door.
The roads out here are ordinary neighborhood roads rather than the narrow switchbacks people picture when they think of the Smokies, so the driveway is the only part worth planning for.
Also worth knowing
- Eight guests in two bedrooms works because of the bunk and the sofa bed, so it suits two families or a group happy to share rooms rather than one that needs a bed each in separate space.
- The gas fireplace runs October through March.
- All guests review and sign a rental agreement before check-in, and we recommend travel insurance. Hot tubs are drained, sanitized and refilled between stays, so yours may still be warming on the first night.
