The check-in was awful. The minute after my booking I received an email that my credit card couldn't be charged and I have to give new cc data on the chat, otherwise my booking will be cancelled. It was not clear if this was a fraudulent cc data phishing or the hotel as the address looked not to be from Expedia. Expedia explicetely warns its customers to give cc data on the chat.
So I called Expedia on the phone. They tried to contact the hotel but failed. After 1 hour they said: no worry - no problem. Booking is still active. The day before my arrival I contacted the given hotel number via WhatsApp. They told me to be there by 1pm (13:00 hrs) (!) otherwise I will find my key in an key lock. The next day, day of the arrival, I got another message via What'sApp from a different number stating again that my credit card couldn't be charged and therefore they can't leave a key for me in the lock and nobody will be present at my arrival at 3pm. Come on. This is ridiculous. I only had to give the cc data for maintaining the reservation, not for payment and they really expect a guest to be arriving by 1pm? There is no safe way to submit cc data in an chat (neither Expedia chat, nor through WhatsApp). It still not clear, whether it's a fraud or they had a problem with my card as I don't know what data exactly I submitted at the time of booking.
