Lovely hideaway in Dartmoor

Mary made us very welcome in her house and makes a magnificent breakfast. It really is in deepest Dartmoor and Mary has lots of maps and suggestions of walks to do from the property. There is a "quirky" pub within 20 minutes walk away. Mary can arrange horse riding as well. A perfect place to stay if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle. There's only two rooms so it's not going to be overcrowded.

We stayed in Wydemeet 3 nights this June. The room was so clean and beautiful. The house is in the middle of Dartmoor, completely quiet and relaxing. Mary is a great host and looked after us very well. She cooked us the most delicious breakfast that was made of the local organic produce; she kindly helped us call up restaurants for dinner booking and advised us places to visit. Mary can also help arrange mini-moons and horse riding if needed. She is so friendly, kind and welcoming. I'd strongly suggest Mary's books too. They are written with a wicked sense of humour, passion and love for Dartmoor! We will definitely be back one day!

Wonderful stay at Wydemeet

My wife and I had a super stay at Wydemeet. Mary, our host, was so welcoming from our arrival to our departure. We were sad to go after such a lovely time spent at Wydemeet. Our double room was spacious, spotless, ultra clean and beautifully furnished to a very high standard, with wood-pannelled walls throughout and a high ceiling for such a period home. The en-suite bathroom was indeed spotless, with all soaps etc. that we might need. The heated blankets on the bed were a lovely touch, as were the tray full of all tea- and coffee-making supplies we might need. Breakfast was to our timing - Mary is so flexible and amenable to her guests. Her cooking was second to none, and she offers a hearty and nourishing range of all types of breakfast to suit individual tastes. Especially helpful was the facility to dry our outdoor gear and walking boots in her ample boot room. Mary was kind to send us in advance a detailed list of local hostelries, Inns and Pubs that we could contact for an evening meal. With a great knowledge of the area, she kindly showed us a choice of several circular walks leading from the house. Mary is a super host, taking great pride in the presentation of her house and ensuring that her guests would not be wanton in any way. We look forward to our next stay at Wydemeet.

A Genuine Dartmoor Treat

We had a wonderful time at Wydemeet. The room was superb, the facilities were excellent, I couldn't fault the breakfasts and the location allowed very easy access to walks and Dartmoor destinations. Everyone was very relaxed and friendly. My son enjoyed playing the piano in the lounge but was particularly fond of the most un-Baskervillian resident dog! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Wydemeet and we will certainly be going back when we get the chance.

Absolutely stunning home and land around, amazing team, Tilly and Lucy very welcoming and helpful. Mary is an absolute amazing woman who’s goes above and beyond for your every need. We will definitely be back again. Breakfast is out of this world and the beds are so comfortable best sleep I’ve had for an extremely long time. X

The whole experience at Wydemeet was fantastic for us - a beautiful house in an incredible setting and Mary is so charming and kind. The breakfasts are delicious and tide you over for the whole day. We loved it and will be back for sure!

Great host in a lovely location

I chose the Wydemeet following other reviews, and wanting somewhere convenient & central for exploring the national park. I was impressed with the contact beforehand from Mary offering advice and directions, and then the welcome when I arrived. It's easy to get out onto the open moor from here, with any number of walks in the vicinity. With no light pollution, expect to see millions of stars on a clear night, amazing sight! I would definitely stay again. Mary's a great host and cooks a mean breakfast.

Great B&B in stunning location

Wydemeet is in a stunning location with Dartmoor on your doorstep. It’s a great place to stay with excellent choice of breakfast. Mary the owner was on holiday when we were there but we have to say her friend Jannette was a fantastic host in her absence, a natural born landlady. We were greeted with a cup of tea and cake, always a good way to start. She was very kind and an excellent cook. We have to mention Twiglet, the most adorable canine friend, if we hadn’t had such a packed car he would have been dognapped. He is gorgeous!

A very special B&B

Was truly impressed by this B&B as it had the personal touch. It is a special place as its in the middle of nowhere and it sustains you beautifully when you're surrounded by nothing but sheep and ferns. The owner is very kind and interesting to talk to.
