I recently stayed at Mandarin Oriental Singapore and overall had a mixed experience.
The hotel is centrally located and the room itself was clean, comfortable and well-maintained. Housekeeping inside the room was good and the bedding and amenities were up to standard. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide variety of dishes. Everything I tried was fresh and well prepared. Service during breakfast was also attentive and efficient.
However, there were some issues that affected the overall impression. The corridor carpets on my floor were not well maintained. In fact, the carpets had not been vacuumed regularly. I noticed the same bits of rubbish on the carpet over several days, especially near my room at the end of the corridor, which gave a poor impression for a hotel of this standard. In addition, there was a noticeable unpleasant smell coming from the toilet area in my room. Regarding the surroundings, there is ongoing construction in front of the hotel, which causes noise and affects the otherwise attractive bay view.
